Re: 20 Minutes Later
"You love my dad," he told Eva, matter-of-factly, while his small hand held to the other side of Ronan's face. His mother's hand was occupying the opposite cheek still. "You're not a family."
"We can be - you're here now." Eva explained, and then slowly let her hand fall to Ronan's shoulder.
"I mean married. You-"
Maria cleared her throat. "Faolan."
"They love each other! It's hurting them," he countered with concern.
And Eva was crying again. "Fway," she tried, "we do. I love him very much. And we'll be a family. But it might take a little work," she swallowed and looked into Ronan's eyes, "and a little bit of time." She kissed his dreadlocks again and then moved so that she could equally engulf both Murphys in her arms. Her lips pressed to Ronan's temple - a kiss that had been waiting on her lips for nearly a month. She sniffled and breathed against his cheek, eyes shut. Zap's forehead touched to his and she rested it there while they held their son between them. "We'll stay here with you tonight, okay? After you meet Ren, we can all go try to get some rest, okay?"
"Her dad is the Angel..." Faolan snuggled closer between his parents.
Eva turned to look at her mother over Fway's head. Maria winced a bit. She shook her head 'no', as in, don't start asking questions now. "Yes, but it's safe here, Faolan. He's not going to hurt anyone." Maria vowed. She'd see to it. What the fuck had her daughter been thinking marrying the tuki-tuki trustfund zealot? She looked to Jon for a moment with concern in her eyes, but it seemed that this Warren wasn't so alarming. Her shoulders relaxed some.
Zap felt confused and a little off guard, but she'd nodded her head to what her mother had explained. She was right. Warren wasn't going to hurt anyone. "She's part of our family and she's going to love you," Eva said of Ren. "Do you want to stay with your abuela, for tonight?"
"I'm okay."
Maria winced a bit. She wasn't ready to relinquish control of his well-being to uncertainty. "You can come with me, little pup," she offered, one last time.
He simply shook his head 'no'.
"We'll stay with you as long as you want." Zap promised him, then looked to Ronan with an overload of emotions in her sparky, tearful eyes. The entire room was a bit poppish with static, so she took a few deep breaths to calm herself and then moved to stand, motioning that Ronan could lift Fway and hold him if he wanted. "We'll go see your sister now, okay?"
