"Maybe. But she's our miracle baby." Eva smiled at that. He was right. She was their little Boy-Who-Lived wizard princess, now with wings. Then, she was distracted: No. WHAT? Warren moved closer to her and the prick lit one of the aforementioned cigarettes, then rested his hand on her leg. She rolled her eyes. Suddenly, she didn't want it anymore. But watching Warren smoke it was good enough for her. His lips around it... fingers moving around the length. She shook her head and focused on what he was saying, all of a sudden. He'd done the sigh. She angled her body to see Angel's face more properly while he spoke, and when he came to his conclusion, she couldn't help feeling like a colossal adult on all accounts.
"But that's the secret, Eva. We all fuck up. It's what you do with it. I know I helped people I wouldn't have helped if I'd quit being a cop. Just like we fucked this up. But what are we going to do - punish ourselves? Sure. But we aren't going to wallow in it."
Yes. Everyone made mistakes. She wasn't completely surprised by Warren's revelation, but she wondered what had made him wait so long to make her privy to that little morsel from his past (a past she'd been involved with). Also, he hadn't coddled her. He'd come right out and included her in the accountability for the entire situation, which brought her so very little comfort that she felt her stomach turn. He was absolutely right, but usually Warren offered a softer alternative to that of her father's tough love approach. Heh. Maybe that's why Ronan was so appealing... he gave her both.
"Of course she's going to be stronger than before," but for a teenager, tackling body changes and deep emotions and family issues all at once? That could seem like Everest. She would've smiled a bit about Dawson's holiday, except she'd stopped when he mentioned Mars. He was going to get help. Yes. But deep down, Eva knew Ronan wasn't the only one who needed it. She herself took medication for bipolar disorder. It was a side effect many magnekines and eletrokines dealt with, the X-Men had discovered. Still, she most likely had other issues floating around that needed to be addressed. Like the feeling that she wanted to flee the room when Warren mentioned Disney World. Maybe it was a knee-jerk reaction to how poorly their last vacation had turned out. Or maybe it was the thought of spending that much time away from her home and work and... fucking damned bastard Ronan. God damn it. She stood.
"I'll," Eva's hands ran over her hair, then she straightened her top, "look into some reservations." She swallowed nervously, then felt her left eye twitch involuntarily as she bent down, took Warren's cigarette, and put it out in his coffee mug. "Don't do that."
