House Inspection - Complete
Who: Rosmerta & Remus Lupin
Where: Rosmerta’s parents house behind the Three Broomsticks
When: Thursday 10:00 AM February 28th, 1999
Rating: G-PG?
Rosmerta took down the wards and opened the door to the front of her parents house. It had been closed up for at least a month and the smell of dust and age met her senses immediately. She was going to have to throw around some cleaning charms before the open house on Saturday.
She walked from room to room peering inside and noting its condition. The first thing she noticed was the walls. They would probably need painting. The furniture was shabby (not like the pictures) but she thought it would do. The kitchen and bath room were out dated and she figured Remus would probably find something wrong in both of those rooms.
She ended her tour in the kitchen and sat down at the rough kitchen table and looked out of the window into the garden out back. As she waited for Remus, memories of her childhood came flooding back. The garden was overgrown with ivy and bushes and long grass but when she was a child it was meticulously tended with many varieties of flowers and flowering shrubs. The garden was a particularly good place to play hiding games with the large trees, full bushes, garden wall and shed.
Rosmerta had very fond memories of growing up here but the good memories, as always, soon turned bad as she remembered the fateful night when she was nineteen and Death Eaters came looking for trouble. During the first war with Voldemort, the Three Broomsticks was a popular place to go to discuss the events of the war and, because of her parents loyalty to Dumbledore, was a safe haven for the members of the Order of the Phoenix.
Voldemort soon got wind of this and Death Eaters were sent to "sort them out". Rosmerta's parents died in the ensuring battle leaving Rosmerta with only her grandfather Wesley and the Three Broomsticks. Afterwards, Rosmerta and her Grandfather could no longer bear to live in they're ancestral home and moved out of it and into the rooms above the Three Broomsticks.
She sat staring out the window feeling the prick of tears begin and heaved a great jagged sigh.
