Severus Snape Visits Hogsmeade After a Meeting in the Minstry (PG-13?)
Who: Severus Snape and everyone with an errand in Hogsmeade (thread open to all)
When: Afternoon, 15th January 1999
Where: Hogsmeade, currently outside Gladrags
Rating: Probably PG-13 for language.
Severus stepped out from the telephone box outside the Ministry of Magic with a deep sigh. Everything went as he had counted on, they had even given him a small leather-clad case with an Order of Merlin inside. Nice to know murder was rewarded so richly. Severus huffed. This was what he had sacrificed twenty years of his life for? A pat on the head and a cheap piece of metal with a silk ribbon?
He pulled his black winter coat tighter against the chill January wind. Just as the Muggle world had come out of the war almost untouched, so had the wizarding world returned to the old inertia, although Shacklebolt obviously did his best to move things in other directions. The Wizengamot was still peopled with the same conservative idiots. The Dark Lord was gone, but nothing had really changed. Not yet. At least they had freed Severus of all charges, not that there was any left after Potter had poured some romantic drivel in the ears of everybody who cared to listen to the little twit.
Severus turned left down a desolate (compared to the rest of the always-busy London streets) alley, and found a niche from where he could Disapparate. He put a hand down one pocket to close his fingers around his new wand - one Ollivander had been kind enough to provide and deliver to the Ministry earlier. It felt strangely unfamiliar. Ollivander had been bickering for ten minutes full that it was not the wand for Severus Snape. Severus had disagreed and stubbornly taken the wand. Maybe it was just what he needed until he was more certain what he wanted to do with his life, until that, too, fitted him better?
Now that he was back, his reputation and the hard work he had done recognised by the Minister and the Wizengamot, he could act. Staying in Spinner's End, hidden by numerous spells, was not really what Severus had wanted. Actually, he knew what he didn't want. The difficult thing was to decide what he did want.
Exactly that question was one Severus hoped to have a reply to, when he clutched his wand and Disapparated to Hogsmeade, visiting the town that had been a part of his life for so many years for the first time since his alleged death. A few witches and wizards would certainly get a surprise since only a few outside the Ministry's confining walls knew Severus was alive.
Severus landed with a soft pop just outside Gladrags. It was due time he got himself some decent wizarding robes. He was tired of jeans and t-shirts and polyester-blend shirts. Severus pushed the issue of Daily Prophet he was carrying under his left arm a bit up, and raised a hand to push the door open, when he saw a familiar face.
