Who: Steve Rogers & Bucky Barnes
What: A conversation.
When:: Following the arrival of Bruce & Tony
Where: The engine room where Bucky's been keeping himself.
They'd talked already.
About the fact that Steve was a member of something called The Avengers, about the fact that once they got off this floating ship, Bucky would have to continue the work that he didn't want Steve's help with. Rogers wasn't sure how he felt about that, or if he had any intention of letting Barnes go off on his own, but for the moment and for the most part, it didn't seem to be much of a pressing concern.
What was was the fact that the number of Avengers here seemed to be increasing. And while Bucky had been content to keep to himself and away from Natasha and Clint as much as possible, Steve wasn't sure how much longer that would be able to last. In fact, he wasn't sure how much longer he wanted it to last. He knew, of course he knew, that Bucky felt a great amount of guilt for what had happened to SHIELD and for everything he'd done while he'd been under HYDRA's influence, and Steve could certainly understand why facing Natasha or anyone else with some idea of what had happened could be next to impossible levels of difficult. But avoidance wasn't going to accomplish anything, and being the headstrong person that he was, Steve's opinion was that the best approach would be one that was head-on. He wanted Barnes to talk to these people, to his friends so he would understand that they knew what it was like to carry guilt, to have done things they couldn't help, to be on the wrong side of what was right. All of his friends had history, all of them had moments they weren't proud of, and the last thing he wanted was for Bucky to think he was alone in this ship when he didn't have to be.
He tapped on the door to the engine room where Bucky had sorted himself out a makeshift loft, away from everyone else, and then tried the door, pushing the lever down and pinching it open just a crack. "Bucky, hey. It's me."
