[There's not much point in pretending anymore, really... everyone really does seem to be from some other world, as strange as it is to admit. And if anyone from the Fire Nation were here, they would be just as lost as Katara. So she drops the pretense.]

My bending isn't working right. I can't do a thing to the water outside the dome. Is it supposed to be that way?

I-- [a gasp, startled, and then a husky murmur] I cannot -- hear...

I am deaf.

[spoken in a quiet, mourning voice, and then there are just a few, quiet breaths. it is finally -- finally over. there is nothing left of the Wood in her. and it hurts so much more than she'd thought it would.]

[finally, after a long pause, she turns the video on: a beautiful woman with coffee-colored skin and white hair curling about her face. her ears may not be visible just yet, but her features are not quite human.]

[now her voice is collected and flat]
Who has chained me? I do not care for it.

[for someone who claims to be deaf, she certainly seems to expect answers]

[Murmuring to himself as he sits in a building full of puppies and kittens and...is that a dragon?] Okay, I've been in a lot of strange situations, but this is the first time it came with a brochure.

[He thumbs through it again, trying to figure out who might be toying with him. A real trickster this time? The ball and chain seem real enough though, so he decides it's best to just play along for now until he can find Dean figure out what kind of illusion or delusion he's in.]

[He hits the button on his communicator to broadcast.]

Uh, hi. [Pauses awkwardly, not sure what to say or who he is really addressing.]

I guess this makes me the new kid on the cell block. [More pausing, more awkward. He's not really funny. Let's just get to the point.] Dean? Cas? Bobby?
