[Just like yesterday, Tamaki can be found sitting at the piano in the music room of the Education Center but unlike yesterday, he's not making this a public show. He plays a few random notes before making a call to Judith to tell him he's ready to play for her.]

[filtered to Judith]

Princess, if you are ready to listen I am prepared to play for you again. [He pauses for a moment, realizing something.] And should you prefer to have a live show it would be my honor to walk you here! [wink!]

[End filter]

-------

[Once that's over with Tamaki stays at the piano for a little while, just playing around with the piano a little more. He has no where to be and he really does enjoy playing so what's the hurry to go back to his room just because he's done playing for Judith?]

[Moving over to actually give Kaworu more room so that he doesn't have to keep nudging, he removes his fingers from the keys.]

Don't be disappointed if you can't get it the first time. There aren't many people who are able to do that. [Tamaki smiles at the other boy as he says this.]

[Eyes still closed, he rests his hands on the keys for a moment, then starts to play. He slows it down quite a bit while he's learning, but there are a few slips where he hits the wrong key and has to start again. It's still quite impressive for a first try, though.

Tamaki also might notice that Kaworu doesn't use the pedals at all - his intuitive knowledge of piano playing doesn't extend that far- which gives his playing a bit of a hard edge.]

That was very good! With some more practice I'm certain you will be able to play it perfectly!

[Honestly extremely happy about this, especially after their last conversation. And yes, he does notice the lack of pedal usage.]

You should use the pedals next time, though. Should I demonstrate again?

[If Kaworu would move over, he will start playing.]

Pedals? Oh, right, I didn't know what those were for.

[And he's got to see what Tamaki's feet are doing, so he gets up and sits cross-legged on the floor beside the piano bench. It's perfectly logical, right?]

[Tamaki doesn't really care where he sits as long as it's some where he can actually see. Once the song finishes he scoots back over and looks down at him.]

Try again.

[Okay, he thinks he knows when to push the pedals down now. He stands up and reclaims his spot on the bench, closing his eyes and playing the song again.

It's still slow, but it's less clumsy this time, and the pedals help a little.]

[While Kaworu is playing Tamaki gets up and looks around the room for another piano. Tamaki's method to teaching piano is for both teacher and student to play together and with only one piano that's not exactly possible.]

[With his eyes closed, he doesn't notice that Tamaki's gotten up until the song ends and he opens his eyes.]

It does sound better with - hey, where are you going?

[And lo and behold Tamaki found another piano! Unfortunately it's on the other side of the room and he doesn't have the strength to push it. This may not work out as well as he would have hoped.]

To find this. If you can play at the same time as me it could help you to fix your errors.

Of course! You didn't think that would be the last time you played it, did you?

I've never had a lesson before. I had no idea what to expect.

[He rests his hands on the keys and waits for Tamaki to... give some kind of signal to start playing.]

You may begin.

[It's a pretty straightforward signal and Tamaki starts playing as soon as the last syllable leaves his mouth. When he's teaching someone to do something he gets pretty serious about it.]

[He starts to play, but Tamaki's playing at regular speed, so he's a bit stumbling at first. It's mostly because he so seldom puts his full focus into anything, though, so just a bit more attention bent toward his task and he's playing quite well.]

You will have to focus much harder than that if you want to get better.

[That's all as he continues to play.]

I just play because I can. I'm not that worried about getting better.

[But there is another noticeable improvement in his play after the scolding. His pride may have been slightly dented.]

[Tamaki smiles a bit at the improvement. People do tend to put a little more effort into things after hearing something like that. He doesn't feel the need to say anything just yet, though.]

[When the song's over, he sits back and stretches his arms over his head, waiting to see if he'll be made to play it again. If it's going to be too much work, he might back out of this whole talent show thing.]

That was much better. If you want to stop we can, but you will need more practice later.

[Gets up to stretch his legs and walks back over to the original piano.]

Yes, yes. [A little sigh.] It'll be a way to fill my time, anyway.

[He goes back to playing his rather simple version of Ode to Joy, just to keep his fingers busy.] Kohran's teaching me to read music. Is it hard?

I learned to read it when I was a small child so I think that made it a little harder for me - I had a very short attention span. It was probably even harder for my mother to teach me.

[Of course his attention span is probably even shorter now.]

Mmm. Well, I'll try it, anyway. [Finishing up Ode to Joy, which leaves the room in silence for a moment.]

What is it like, performing in front of people? I've only ever had an audience of one.

... two, if you count the kitten.

It's really nice. A lot of people seem to like it when I play for them and seeing other people happy makes me happy.

[Tamaki doesn't let the silence linger for very long. He starts playing with the keys a bit once the song ends, though he doesn't play an actual song.]
