[431] Video/ Beach Birthaversary Mingle

Hey guys! It's me again, Becca, back at it with the beach plans for the 'Birthaversary' as I like to call it. There'll be good company and great food at the Beach in Sector 1 all day, so come on out okay? There'll be dancing and beach smores. And gifts for everyone. If that doesn't sell you, let me know what will.

It's also kinda my birthday. You don't wanna disappoint the birthday girl, do you?

[The Beach]

[Rebecca's done her small part in setting up the beach for some all-day fun, from a volleyball net to some (half assed) streamers hanging from the beach huts. There are coolers full of ice and drinks next to a barbecue set up that she's hoping she can con her lovely boyfriend into working at - otherwise it's free grill for those self-inclined. There's food such as salads, burgers, hot-dogs and veggie options ahoy, there's also a ton of pies and cakes contributed by one Charlotte Charles on some set up tables with checkered table cloths. On one such table nearby there is a table of idential bags for guests. Rebecca took some time yesterday to stick random small trinkets and generic gifts in each one so that everyone goes home with something in celebration.

Come nightfall there will be light from some lanterns to set the mood for a warm night by the fires easily lit individually or the larger bonfire that will take place more center stage for smores and general hand-warming. Throughout the day there will be some alcoholic beverages present, but come darker skies it's more liberally passed about in the name of good fun and celebration.]

	You know... I don't think he'd disapprove. [He might actually have an upright approval. She laughs though; if you only knew, Jack. [He chuckles warmly. Oh, he knows. He possibly hasn't quite grasped the depth of Aidan's crush on him, but he's well aware of it. Could hardly help it, the cute way the man blushes and gets flustered every time he's around him!]

I - uh - yeah. I'm probably celebrating quite a few birthdays, actually. I lost track quite a way back. [He thinks for a moment.] A long way back.

[Honestly? He can't remember the last time he celebrated his birthday.]

Oh, well goodie. You deserve this! [She's so directing you to the gift table later, but for now she'll set the ball down in the sand and retreat a few feet away to a towel she left abandoned with her beach bag. She wanted to prepare something more personalized for people but when you know so many folks it's kinda hard to fashion that, so instead...

She pulls out a stack of post-cards, flipping through them until she gets to one with some half dressed people on the front and holds it out to him. On the blank side it'll say a few lines about her being thankful for his friendship and quote: Thanks for always being the smiling sixpack on campus, you're one of a kind Jack!] I had to do these for a punishment originally and I kinda forgot about it, so I turned it into something for today. Happy birthday.

[He so wasn't expecting that, and he watches her with mild confusion when she goes over to her bag, turning to surprise when she comes back with something she's obviously prepared in advance. He takes the card automatically, leering a bit, automatically, at the picture on the front and somewhat bemused when he flips it over to read what she's written on the back. Her explanation goes some way towards explaining it, but even so, he's considerably touched.]

I... wow, I don't know what to say! [Is he blushing? He feels like he's blushing, just a little. After all the time he spent trying to push people away and be the inscrutable, untouchable Captain of Torchwood Three, it really touches him when people demonstrate that he's had a good impact on their lives.]

Thanks, Rebecca. [Softly, with a warm, genuine smile. Impulsively, he reaches out and pulls her into a hug.] Happy birthday to you too!

Oh nonsense, neither of us can be old maids, we've both got boyfriends! [Grinning, and giving her a squeeze back before letting her go.] And I do like it. It's nice to be reminded I've somehow managed to make friends here!

I feel bad I didn't get you anything, though. Can't even buy you a drink, what with everything being free - not to mention that you brought it all along here!

	Don't worry, being here's good enough. I just want people to have a good time, that's gift enough for me. [She really loves the good vibes of happy people for a change, even this hug was super recharging and she lingers before letting go.] We can play a game of ball though, and make smores later if you're really into paying me back. I love getting thrashed! [With a twitch of his lips and a twinkle in his eye at the double entendre as he takes the ball round the other side of the net, and serves. It's definitely on, and in the extremely loosely described way of a writer who's never even watched volleyball, let alone played it...]

I don't know, it's not really his thing. He always says he prefers watching. [More twinkling.]
