[ At some point, he fell asleep, warm and comfortable and safe in a couch fort with Ianto pressed against his side. He slept and then he woke up and nothing was warm or comfortable or safe anymore. Sitting up with a start, as if from a nightmare, Spike scrambles out of the couch half prepared to find himself in a blood bath again. ]

[He may have only just learned about the specifics but he's always been aware Spike worries about his control and what might happen if he loses it. It's the obvious explanation for why he's so cautious about some things.]

We've all got so many false memories and unusual information it's rather hard to keep it all straight. I wish there was a way to find out specifically what caused it for you at home.

I guess we have to treat it like the fake twenty years thing: as something that could happen but we have the opportunity to try and put in place measures so that it won't.

[A breath.] Somnambulist amnesiac killing isn't a normal thing for your kind of vampire, is it? So presumably there must have been some kind of external cause?

Not as far as I know, but neither is having a soul. [ So for all he knows maybe it's some kind of unconscious releasing of pressure, like nocturnal emissions only bloodier. Sure never happened to him before, which makes him wonder if there are more downsides to this soul business than he initially thought. ]

Hasn't been anyone around to ask for a long time either, so I don't know what kind of measures you want to put in place, unless you're thinking of locking me up every night.

I think Jack's right. It has to be like that glimpse into the future; something that could happen, but until then we shouldn't assume it's inevitable. [It's the only way to live with half the things that happen here. Sometimes it really does seem like all they can do is take it one day at a time. Besides, he has no intention of locking Spike up every night and his stubborn expression says as much.]

[He shakes his head.] No idea what kind of measures we could take either, actually - except just being more vigilant. Checking in on you during the night when we can, that sort of thing.

[He has no intention of suggesting locking Spike up every night either. Believe it or not, Spike's need to stay in control rather than have it taken from him has got through to him.]

Perhaps some kind of movement monitor for the nights? So we can tell if you are actually doing anything in your sleep?

[ It is kind of nice to hear that Jack did pay attention to what he wants, but even that can change if this continues to be a problem. It's one thing to want to stay in control when you're conscious, a whole other to do it when you're asleep. Maybe he should do less of that for a couple of days, see how it goes. ]

Could talk to Rebecca, she's probably our best bet for any kind of techy stuff. Still owe her for the pager. [ That hasn't been finished yet but still. ]

[Rebecca does sound like their best option here. He has no idea how much something like this will actually help but it's a start and right now they all need the peace of mind.]

Will you stay here tonight?

[He's a little hesitant to ask and he can't be blamed for how tentative he sounds. It's got nothing to do with distrusting Spike on his own and everything to do with the fact that they all need this after yesterday. It isn't even about sex, they just all need to feel reassured in very different ways. Funny, he's been wanting to suggest something like this for awhile, he's just planned on much better circumstances for it.]

[ He's hesitant, partially because he's not so sure he wants to be around people right now and partially because he's absolutely not sure he'll actually sleep tonight. Even after all this time he still skews to a nocturnal schedule and being with two more or less regular humans with daytime hours have only partially changed that.

I doubt any of us will get much sleep. But I'll feel better knowing both of you are here and alright. [It's a deliberate choice of words to make it less about Spike and more about him and Jack. It worked before and it also gives Spike an excuse to take it if it's an offer that's not being made just because they're worried about him. He can't even feel like he's being manipulative when it's true. He will feel better having both of them where he can see them. After yesterday he thinks they could all use that.]

Well, night's a long way off yet, anyway. But I would appreciate it if you'd stay with us when the time comes, Spike. You know neither of us are going to sleep much if we're just lying here worrying about you!

[Let's be honest, Jack has probably been on the receiving end of that manipulation far more often than he realizes. As for Spike he'd rather have him be grouchy and unhappy with him for a bit than holed up somewhere with nothing but his thoughts and worries to obsess over. He's even relieved enough to throw in a bit of dry Ianto sexual humor.]

So just like every night I've spent with you, then.

[Normally Ianto would have taken advantage by now of the turn this conversation has taken to put this particular hobby into practice. But with how emotionally charged everyone still is pushing for sex sounds like a recipe for disaster. He does move to take a seat on the couch as he replies and if that leads to a bit of cuddling with either or both of them he won't complain. He feels like they could all use a little closeness after yesterday.]

I'm quite sure I could create a list of sexually creative knitting projects if you're offering to make them.

[ Closeness is all good and fine in theory, but Spike is still feeling pretty raw and anxious so rather than join the other two at the couch, he finds a window to hang out by under the pretence of lighting another cigarette. Truth be told, at least part of this is him not being entirely sure how to deal with the whole three-way thing. It still feels like he's breaking something up, rather than adding to it. ]

Lord help us all. [ Said with enough sarcasm to allow a vampire to take that name in his mouth. ]

[Ianto curls up against Jack's side, just relieved to have him there again. He always tries to find a moment to reassure them both after his deaths, even if this wasn't really a death. Sometimes they aren't able to do more than exchange anlook before getting back to shooting aliens but he always feels better being able to just be close to him, to remind them both that it's alright. As for Spike he doesn't push it but he does give him a look that's impossible to interpret as anything but an invitation. This is different from anything the three of them have done before. Usually the focus is on sex rather than emotional contact and he doesn't want to force it even if he hopes they can adapt to this part as well as they have to the rest of it.]

Are you really that bored when we're gone that you've resorted to knitting?

[He wraps himself around Ianto as he snuggles in. It's such a relief to be able to touch him again, after spending yesterday so entirely alone. It wasn't really that different from dying, given that he felt very much like a ghost amongst them.

His relationship with Spike is different enough that they haven't really progressed to cuddles yet, except post-coitally, so he's not going to push on that one either. He understands that Spike needs his space, but he tries to make it clear with his body language that he is totally invited to join them in their cuddling if he wants to.]

What's wrong with knitting? People keep telling me I need to find things to do that don't revolve around sex, and I might as well do something useful with my time!

[He might actually be secretly knitting each of them a mug cosy, to keep their respective coffee or blood warm.]

	Oh I know for a fact there are plenty of other things he can ruin with his debauchery. [He can feel the mood listing ever so slightly but doesn't point it out because that would just ruin things. He gives Jack a teasing glance as he starts checking things off his mental list.] I know for a fact we can include any and all games on that list. Also office supplies.
