"Please, even I know that wasn't your problem," he shook his head with a dry laugh, feet sliding in the sand as the barrier pushed at him. What? It was his own little way of a rebelling, even though he knew it was pointless, and certainly was not a reflection on Jack.
His smile turned warm and genuine at that, a warm flush spreading through him. He could no more deny his attraction to Jack than a bee to a flower, even though he knew that anything more than a friendship wasn't possible now. Maybe not ever. It would simply be an undercurrent in whatever they did build together, as companions or otherwise.
There was no hesitation as he kissed Jack, unsure of what it was he felt in that kiss, of the things Jack remembered and he did not. All he could give Jack back was equal desire and need, wrapped up in the regret of knowing that more than this was probably never to come. There was a promise too, a promise that if he needed it, this would be here, but also that Kirk would simply be there, kisses or no. There was affection and acceptance and even forgiveness, though Kirk did not think that Jack had anything to apologize for.
All that in the tangle of tongues and lips and the way his fingers pressed against his warm skin, careful to avoid his nails so as not to leave a mark. ]
[ ooc: up to you if they have to keep kissing more or if you want that to be it - I am down for either! ]
