[She's always been one to communicate with touch and affection. Granted, there were also times in her life when she held back what would have come naturally because of past traumas but at this point in the dome she's able to give it freely especially with someone like Jack who is a truly unexpected person in her life. She never expected to have an open relationship. She never could have imagined it working this well. She assumed there would be a need to choose and the pain of loss and conflict and so much confusion. And it wasn't perfect right from the start. It took time and a very specific set of situations to lead to this. Where she loves Jack as a friend, desires him as a lover, and never questions her devotion to Chekov. It's strange and perfect. The sort of thing that seems like it might only work in a dream but it's her reality.
