Something had to be done. Martha knew she would probably never wear a bikini again. And she doubted she'd ever end up blue-banded with someone here. Especially now. But the scars were still there. She'd spent more time than she would like to admit staring at them in the mirror that morning. Her fingers danced over the dots while she lay in bed. Yes, something definitely had to be done. Which is why she was in the library searching for books on scars and tattoos.

Martha sat at a table in the corner with two thick books in front of her. She was carefully going over the pages of one, occasionally holding up a digital camera and taking a picture of whatever was on the page. Her coffee sat forgotten. Anyone curious to take a glance would notice the pages were primarily pictures of tattoos.

[ Spike can't remember when he first started making it a habit of dropping into the library every so often, but he's pretty sure it was before Ianto. Sure, maybe it's a good reason now but libraries in general hold a lot of personal, complicated meaning to him and without any Scoobies around to anchor him to the idea of home, you take the next best thing.

Seeing Martha there gives him some purpose and he moves to say hi, check in on her, see how she's doing lie a good pal should. ]

I had no reason to be here at all and now I got a reason.

[Her first reaction when she heard someone come up behind her was to hide the book she was holding. Which was stupid. Anyone could see that she was in the tattoo section. And it's not like the book was exactly easy to hide behind her back as she turned.

When she saw it was just Spike (And since when did he become "just Spike"?), she started to relax. Only then he said something that made little sense. Or at the very least was very out of context. She lifted an eyebrow.]

	I'm tired of it, Spike. I'm tired of hating the way I look in the mirror. In the few months I've been here, I've managed to gather more scars than I ever expected to get in my entire lifetime.
