The dragon legend explains how the Red Dragon, King Hiryuu, descended to earth and took on human form to rule the kingdom of Kouka. The kingdom prospered beneath his rule, however, mankind is wicked. Men sought to use and kill the king, and in response, four heavenly dragons descended from heaven to lend the king their aid. While the dragon gods wanted to punish mankind for their sins, King Hiryuu stopped them. He didn't wish for the destruction of man. So instead, the dragon gods bestowed four warriors with the power to protect the red king. That power has been passed down to one man in each tribe for thousands of years all the way to this very day.
