[While her father has arrived, and she hasn't told him about... what happens to him, she thinks it's probably safe to tell Reid the truth of things. He really has no reason to bring it up to her father, after all.]
While my father is here now, both of my parents were killed when I was young. [He saw the remnants of that within a dream once, even if no explanations were given.]
I was brought to the doorstep of a vampire hunter no less. [Even though she had been changed into a human girl at the time.] I think I can imagine his surprise...! Even though at the time I was more scared than considering his feelings on the matter, and much too young.
[She smiles, maybe in sympathy for the man that is her adoptive father.]
I very infrequently called him father. Not really because I didn't consider him such though. Despite everything that's happened in my later years of life, while he was my guardian, I consider him my father. Which is separate from Zero I suppose, who truly does only consider him a legal guardian. But that's not my main point. Even if it's not as a parent, a legal guardian is still responsible for providing the same love and guidance as an actual parent.
I think you'd do wonderful at that. Your friend has faith in you too!
[A pause... ]
Though of course I don't want anything to happen to your friend.
