Day 390 | Closed to the Kuran Apartment and Neighbors
[Closed to Haruka]

[To be honest, Yuuki slept soundly the entire night through. Probably for the first time in a long time. The day before had something to do with it. Her emotions had been so raw, and by the evening they had worn her out, probably long before her father had felt sleep tug at him. For him, sleeping through the night had probably been strange. But hopefully, after a day of staying awake, the sands of sleep weighed down his eyelids too as he drifted off.

But it's no surprise that as the sun peaks through her drawn blinds, Yuuki's eyes pop open, and once awake, she can't go back to sleep. So instead, she studies the face of her father as he sleeps peacefully. The smooth, beautiful features, eternally young, like a flower forever in bloom even three thousand years later. His appearance is so strikingly similar to that person. To Kaname. The urge to reach out and touch him is strong, but she doesn't. It isn't her brother. It's her father, who loves and even died for her, and she will forever love him as only a daughter can.

Her patience though can barely wait for him to stir. His anklet should have fallen off during sleep, though she doesn't disturb the blankets to check. Instead, she slides off the side of the bed and onto her knees, and props her chin atop her hands upon the mattress and waits. And waits. It's only now, with the monitor off, that she knows he'll get the full confirmation that he needs and wants. That she is truly his daughter.

And so she can wait expectantly.

But if it should take too long, it's really no surprise if she just... happens to reach out and tickle his nose, before her hands disappear quickly, back beneath her chin.

Good morning...]

[Cooking Breakfast]

[The house has expanded, but it's nothing she can't handle! Apron in place, she has one hand on her hip and a mixing spoon in hand as she faces off with the stove top. Now that her father and daughter are here, plus Zero, it's a full house. And she figures that while he usually does most the cooking in the morning, she can do her part too. Especially because, whether desired or not, the two children next door are over for breakfast too. Both should definitely feel as though they're just an extension to the family.]

All right...! It'll be pancakes, eggs, and cut fruit for everyone!

[But maybe someone should help her as she burns through her second batch of pancakes.]

[Breakfast]

[Everyone is gathered to the table, and okay this is fun...!]

Everyone dig in! [Half the food has been cooked by her. And the other half is whatever someone managed to rescue from her. But she's sure everyone will enjoy the pancake shapes and faces she made. Like Ai's pancake. Everyone is free to stare uncertainly at their food (rude), make awkward small talk, or maybe suggest a game to get to know one another.]

[Maybe everyone leaves to go shopping? Want to interact one-on-one with someone, or something different? Do whatever you like, it's an apartment mingle.]

Oh... [He glances over, attempting to find Yuuki and Ai for the sake of comparing their appearance.] That's weird since Yuuki and Ai look so much alike... Are you sure you're not blood-related at all?

[Because there's no way this man could possibly know he's not. Nope. Also, this next question is very important, so the man should listen carefully:] Are you a hunter?

[Kid logic, and all. It kind of dictates that them being from the same world, means the chances that this man is also a hunter skyrockets. Clearly, it all makes perfect sense and should never be questioned in any way. In any case, however, his expression softens at the mention of them being family. That's good... family's... very important. When asked the last question, he gives a small smile and nods.] Yeah... I'm just glad I didn't ruin it with... what I said.

((OOC: feel free to have it so Haruka overheard any part of what Yuu said at the table!))

That's the strange thing. Yuuki is my daughter, but Ai is my granddaughter.

[That's not a secret right? He doesn't really understand the time shifts or how it all works, but it's very strange and he's not sure how to explain it. Not that he seems at all bothered by this. They're his family and he is very attached to them already.

Haruka hesitates on the second question, however. He only knows what's been said, a brief synopsis that tells him very little about the boys that Yuuki and Zero have become attached to. Haruka knows he needs to tread lightly, out of habit and concern rather than the boys themselves.

Instead, he offers a soft, solemn grin.]

It's fine. It seems you children have had some terrible things happen to you. What matters is that you enjoyed it.

[Yuuki worked hard to make it special, and even if no one but he really found the shapes cute, it's okay. It was a success, no matter what was said.]

But, no, I'm not a hunter. It's not something I'm suited for. [And, to be honest, he doesn't think children should be, either, even if he understands the need for it.] Why?

[ooc: understood! that thread is making me so curious about their canon though...]

Yuuki and Ai look like they're the same age... [And, well...] You look kind of old, I guess, but not that old.

[He tenses just a bit, awkwardly looking away. That's not a subject he wants to talk about right this second, but...] Mika's had it worse...

[Being turned into a vampire counts as far "worse" than anything he's gone through. In his opinion, at least. As for the question about why he'd wanted to know if Haruka's a hunter, though?] Just wondering. I'm gonna be one when I get older, so I wanna know who all is one in this place... I'd like to learn from everyone I can. Do you not like killing, though? Is that why you're not one?

((ooc: oh, man. Seraph of the End is such a good but sad series and it's definitely one of my top three favorites! they do a really great job of balancing the intense heartache with silly and fun personalities/moments |3 and everyone is SO DAMN WELL-DEVELOPED...))

Odd, isn't it? Yuuki tells me that they are both from my story, just different points. It's, apparently, a power these Wardens have, to pull people from different points in time.

[The old comment doesn't even earn a second glance. He's very old! And he's okay with it because he has bigger things to worry about than age. Like stealing umbrellas from wives and making excuses to help his daughter brush her hair. The true troubles of a dad.

And the troubles of children with terrible lives. Mika and Yuu, they need a stable home. Haruka is, admittedly, one who doesn't concern himself too much with the lives of ordinary humans, or the insincere vampires of the senate, but Haruka does care, and to hear even the small bit he has hurts. He's made mistakes, he isn't perfect, but Yuuki and Kaname were loved, and that's what matters.]

You must care about Mika a lot. I'm sure it's hard, watching him deal with this. [It always is.] And they've all probably told you, you're welcome here.

If there's anything you need, I'll help. [Well...] Other than hunting, of course. You're right, that I don't like killing. I don't want to hurt anyone, if I don't have to. The world's vicious enough, isn't it?

[But he won't argue that point, since it's simply from his view and he's aware it's not a popular one.]

I can show you how to play hide and seek, though.

[This is clearly a necessary skill to know. And also, he can't, but he thinks he can and that's the important part.]
