littlefangs ([info]littlefangs) wrote in [info]marinanova,
[Out of everything it's Yuu's reaction that hurts the most. Since he isn't looking at the other boy fully, all Mika catches out of the corner of his eye is that Yuu moves back - away from him. Yuu hates him now because he's a vampire... because he's like them.

The words of disbelief are something he imagined Yuu saying and there is nothing Mika can say to make it better. There is no going back to being a human even if the bracelet seems to have made it that way for the day. No matter how much he might want it, he's forever doomed to be a vampire and now Yuu will tell him he hates him.

When the laughter comes from the other boy, Mika winces visibly. His eyes dart around the pavilion to see if there's a way out - a way that doesn't take him passed Yuu or the two adults. Though maybe it would be better if he was dead. Still, he doesn't want Yuu to have to witness it like they watched the killing of their family. Either way, he doesn't want to hear it when Yuu yells that he hates Mika now too.

What he doesn't expect are for the next words to be an apology. It throws him off enough that Mika stops looking for an escape route. Besides, last time he'd tried this feeble plan it had ended badly. His mouth opens soundlessly once before swallows a lump in his throat and trying again.]
It's not Yuu-chan's fault. I made you...

[He remembers feeling weak, laying on the floor with an arm missing - Mika lifts his left hand to grasp at his upper right arm where it had been slice off. Maybe he shouldn't feel this way but it's almost strange that his arm is intact.

Yuu's declaration makes Mika's head snap up and he finally looks at the other boy fully, eyes wide. The relief Mika feels when the boy makes it clear that he doesn't hate him is overwhelming. His knees actually give out on him and he sinks to the floor, sobbing into his hands and quietly mumbling to himself:]
Yuu-chan doesn't... hate me...

[He doesn't look up again until Yuuki speaks up and everything is blurry through his tears so but he can see her moving towards Yuu. Throughout her words, Mika says nothing and he can make out her hand extended towards him but even if he wanted to, he couldn't make it over there. It was fine with Yuu... but that was because he was so determined to not hurt the other boy ever again. But what if that doesn't happen with the lady? What if it was like how he'd face the situation back in Sanguinem with Krul?

It isn't until Zero also says that hurting others is why he kills vampires that he pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and chews on it. The rules are different. In Sanguinem a vampire wasn't supposed to drink from the children (though Ferid broke that law often) but it didn't prevent them from getting hurt in other ways. So what counts as "hurting others" exactly? Mika would never hurt another child, and he didn't want to hurt humans either but....]

I bit the lady who made me a vampire. [Does that count as hurting others? The question is evident in his tone.]
