Day 387 OTA
a. Video

[Today has been a weird day. Her mother doesn't know who she is again. There are suddenly more vampires around than there had been before and she has no idea just how many people are different from how they normally are. Ai is fairly certain that she hasn't been affected by whatever's happened but can she even be sure of that?

She does keep a journal by her bed that's filled with the more important parts of her days here and everything seems to match up but would that have changed too if her memories had as well? There's just no sure answer to that question so she can only do what she can.]

Listen up, resident of MarinaNova! Show of hands - who remembers being here and who just arrived today? I only arrived about three weeks ago but if anyone needs help, I'll do my best to assist you.

Should any of you new individuals be vampires, there is a place for you to get your blood called the Vampire Blood Shack. It's located in Sector 5. Please do not feed from any of the humans here unless you have their permission. If it isn't consensual, I will intervene. It is in your best interest to not bring on the judgement of any vampire hunters that might be around.

[Ai has no idea if her papa still thinks he's a hunter or what uncle Ichiro thinks either but she will do her best to make sure it doesn't get far enough to have them brought in on the situation. Hopefully this whole ordeal is only temporary and if it is, Ai doesn't want anyone to wake up feeling guilty about their actions today. She can't prevent everything but at least she can do this for those who suddenly became vampires.]

b. action - patrolling

[After her post, Ai can be found just about anywhere in MarinaNova. She's keeping an eye out for any trouble as if this was her job. It technically was back home but it was an academy and not a prison. Sometimes Ai is patrolling on the ground, walking through the various sectors with eyes, ears and nose on the lookout for just about any kind of trouble.

Other times she's perched up on the roof of a shop watching people go by beneath her dangling legs as Ai continues to keep her senses on alert. Today was going to be a very long day and hopefully all of this would be sorted by tomorrow. If it didn't end tonight, then she wouldn't be getting any sleep at all.

She might need to head to the Blood Shack herself if that's the case because there was no way Ai was going feed off a mother who didn't know she was Ai's mother. Hopefully this wasn't permanent because she hadn't told Yuuki anything about being her daughter and didn't plan to.]

c1. action - stationary

[At some point in the day Ai went by the library and checked out a heaping pile of books. All of them are currently piled up on an outdoor table and she's flipping through them at an alarming rate. Every single book is about technology but whatever she's looking for is obviously not yet found as she places it on top of an ever growing while she grabs another one.

Her eyes flicker left to right as she scans through the information laid out before her.]

Is it because of the dimensional stabilizer maintenance?

[Ai might seem like she's not paying attention to her surroundings - too engrossed in her research but that's the case at all. The moment someone heads for her, her head pops up to look over at them.]

c2. action

[The problem with checking out so many books is that they have to be returned. Which means that Ai is carrying a stack of books that's literally taller than she is back to the library. It doesn't look as if she has any trouble actually holding on to them - she isn't struggling under the sheer weight of them. In fact, the stack isn't even really wobbling.

What is happening is that she can't see where she's going. The books are blocking her line of vision and while she can rely on what she can actually see or smell or sense - that doesn't mean it's going to be a perfectly smooth trip.

She just so happens to bump into another person. It'll upset the stack and send it tumbling down on the pair of them. One lands on top of her head directly and even she winces a little.]

Ow.

My apologies...

[He had thought the young pureblood had seen him, but what a silly mistake to make. Of course there's no way she could see around the books that obscure her vision.

He assumes it's just due to the fact that he's tired and off schedule that has him so off his game.

Lifting a hand to his chest he bows apologetically, and if anything- he at least looks sincere.]

I should have been more careful when you were carrying so much. My lady, Please let me help you.

[Kneeling down, he begins to gather up some of her books and materials.] They will be easier to carry if we can divide the load.

[No no no no no. Kija was not supposed to be a vampire. He was supposed to be Ai's friend from another world and not affected by this stupid situation! Why couldn't she have at least one person who wasn't affected? Why couldn't one person have stayed the same?

If it couldn't be her mother or papa, why couldn't Kija have stayed the same?

Ai almost takes the book off of her head and throws it down in frustration but she takes a deep breath in to calm herself. It isn't Kija's fault that he's been changed. Being frustrated at him or the book won't do any good.]

It's fine, I should have been paying more attention to my surroundings. [The "my lady" certainly does get to her but she lets him. For now..]

I can carry it myself. They aren't heavy. [If he remembers this when he's back to normal, Kija might have a few questions for her.] This time I'll be more careful.

[Already she knows that isn't going to work with Kija but she can try, at least.]

[With a smile he shakes his head. lifting a hand into the air. Unlike before, his claw is completely gone. It's just a normal 'human' hand.]

Please allow me. There's no way you could see over the top of them.

[And he means that kindly.]

If it's all right to ask, what are you researching? Perhaps I can be of assistance? [Picking up one of the books, he glances over the title.] I have time to spare. And I'd prefer to stay in here over linger outside in the sun. [He makes a face.] It's still a bit much to get used to. [But Jae-Ha insists on dragging him out during daylight hours.]

[It's weird, not seeing the scaled hand. Ai has only known him with it present and it's proof that some changes did happen physically. Which is enough to make her doubt that her diary wasn't corrupted as well.]

If you insist.

[Which she knows he will. At least that much hasn't changed about him.]

I'm attempting to research the type of technology that is capable of bringing and keeping us here. So far I've been unsuccessful in this endeavor. [Even by the time she's a teenager, technology was not as advanced as it was in the world. Certainly there was nothing capable of snatching people from their world and holding them captive.] That I do understand. I spent the first couple of weeks sleeping in during the day and going out in the evening and at nighttime.

[Frowning, he nods once he has a fair stack of books in hand. That- he's been unsuccessful in, too. It's frustrating to say the least.]

Maybe I can help you? My attempts with the wardens themselves haven't........ went especially well. [He tried to destroy the machine unsuccessfully... ] But if we could figure out the technology behind it all, maybe we wont have to bother with them to begin with.

[Ai starts towards the library so that she can return this set of books and get another. A very small shake of her head. Kija was still Kija even with the physical changes.]

You could be spending your day any other way than by helping me with research. [A huff escapes her.] I wouldn't even bother with the wardens. They don't seem exceptionally helpful in situations such as these.

Even if we were to figure out the technology, there's no guarantee that we'd even get close enough to the dimensional stabilizer to have a look at it.

[Which just makes the whole thing that much more frustrating.]

Lady Ai, I can think of nothing that is a greater honor than of being assistance to you.

[She's kind, intelligent, b-beautiful. She must surely reign supreme among the pureblood. He's more than happy to follow her.]

And this seems a little more peaceful than a roller coaster.

[Apparently some memories stick close to their originals? It's said in good nature.]

Besides... [There's a pause, and he's not sure if he's stepping over the line or not in speaking.] You seem a little troubled today. [It's subtle. But he's... come to enjoy seeing her sincere smile. Or the way she charges forward straight ahead. She's a little difficult to read at times, but- she's always struck him as an honest individual, too.

Maybe it's just the effect a pureblood has on others. But he likes to think that it's her personality that is dazzling, and not simply just that.]

[She sighs and side-eyes him wearily.] I suppose you aren't going to give this up, are you? If you're going to persist on helping me then I'm going to insist you simply call me "Ai".

[He doesn't seem as shy as he had been that day at the waterpark, maybe it's the fact that they're both wearing clothes. Or maybe it's that he has memories from her world that puts him a little more at ease with her. Or it could just be that she isn't in a particularly teasing mood.

It is nice to know that some memories stick close to the original.]

A roller coaster is a fine way to spend the day if you're looking for excitement, however.

[Ai looks up at his face (and boy does she have to look up) and does frown at Kija then. So far she hasn't told anyone about what she has been going through and has no intention of telling all of them. It would be extremely difficult to go through it all again with them - too painful for her.

But this is Kija and he's kind, worried and apparently still her friend even with his altered memories.]
There isn't anything you can do about it.

[Now she looks away, fixing her gaze somewhere distant.] My family doesn't remember me anymore.

[He's clearly vexed a moment. J-Just Ai. It's informal. It's terribly, horribly informal. She's a pureblood princess, and deserves all the respect. She herself has earned it, at least in his eyes. But she's requested it, and he respects her-- enough that he shouldn't just question her decision on this, after all. Especially when it involves her to begin with.]

Ai... then...

[It's a little awkward, but he stumbles through testing it out on his tongue. It's a beautiful name, or so he's always thought. When she looks back up at him, those thoughts disappear almost at once. He doesn't have to be an expert to realize how truly troubled she is. She's upset. And it's any wonder why. His eyes widen at the revelation.]

La-- [Already he stumbles, but corrects himself almost at once.] Ai... [Chest tightening, it bleeds for her. His mother died while he was very young, and his father and him never have gotten along. But he does know what it's like to have someone important. His Granny, in his case. And to be forgotten or left behind... would be an excruciating thing.]

Is it due to the stablizer?

[Frustration wells up, and he's angry. How could anyone forget someone so incredible as Ai!? But he knows, already. It probably isn't the fault of anyone here. That is, except for the wardens.]

Unforgivable!

[With a growl he can feel his blood boiling. How dare the wardens hurt her so. How dare they steal her smile. A family should never have to forget the ones they love! Hands reaching out, he clasps her own.]

I'll find them and remind them of who you are! Or better yet... [The air around him quietly starts to ring, energy building. Maybe last time the noise simply wasn't powerful enough. He'll find a way to amplify it and destroy the kiosk until he can speak with someone directly!] I'll go pay the wardens a visit at once! They shall pay for daring to hurt you! I will rectify things immediately!

[Good, that's settled then. Maybe this is one thing that will stay when he's back to normal. He's always a little bit stiff and polite with her but knows that he does have a side that's not so refined. The kind that will go down a waterslide in an inner tube with her.

She nods in approval when he tries out her name and does expect some slip-ups but he's attempting and that's good enough.

Then they're talking about what's got her upset and he's all sweet one minute - trying to figure out if this is due to the stabilizer. Suddenly he's angry on her behalf and Ai's eyes widen at his outburst, her gaze whipping back to look at him in surprise.]

[His hands grip hers and it's nice to have the contact from someone she does care about. It's a little amusing to have him angry on her behalf but mostly Ai just thinks it's extremely sweet. While it isn't a new thing, she's never had Kija act this way.

She squeezes his hands in return when he mentions going to remind her family and if she has to Ai will keep him from doing just that by gripping him in return. Considering he isn't a pureblood, Ai is probably strong enough to do that.]

No, don't. [Her voice is weak but it doesn't matter because he's moved away from that. Then she's distracted by the ringing in the air around them and she has to wonder if that's him since it started after he got angry.

Kija continues on to talk about the wardens and she forgets about the ringing. Ai tugs on his hands sharply in an attempt to bring his attention back to her but not too hard so as to hurt him.]

It's fine like this. In a couple of days everyone will be back to normal and the wardens will not feel sorry for what they've done no matter what you do. All you will accomplish is getting yourself into trouble on my behalf. Then who will keep me company until this is over?

[Ai smiles a little then, softly and it's not an entirely happy one but he made her feel better with his outrage. She hadn't gotten angry about the situation herself because it dragged on her - having her parents not know her a second time. And she tried so hard to not be too upset by it either but she was.]

Thank you, Kija.

[Now she pulls lightly on their connected hands in order to pull him down because he is way too tall. Gently but insistently she makes him lean down enough and once he's in range, Ai will place a kiss upon his cheek.]

You're sweet to get so worked up on my behalf.

[It's her words that first calm him. He doesn't care if he gets into trouble. What more can the wardens possibly do, they're already in prison. If rehabilitation is really what they are after, then why do something that can clearly hurt her.

But her voice is firm, but soft, and her grip tight. His gaze drops back down to her and his frustration melts into more of a frown. He's at a loss as to what he can do to help her then.]

. . . Of course. I won't do something that will leave you alone.

[Not when she's clearly feeling lonely already. It's just embittering- the desire to help and yet not being able to do so. What's worse... is the fact that those feelings have to be so much stronger for her. Even still, she thanks him...

Even though he hasn't been able do to anything for her.]

Not at all...

[She tugs on his hands, and that's when he seems to become aware of the fact that he had taken her hands to begin with. He opens his mouth, but she drags him down nearer her, and his eyes widen when all at once he feels the soft brush of her lips against his cheek.

Face coloring red, he does all he can in the moment to prevent his heart from hammering away from him. It's not the time.]

P-Please just let me know if there is anything I can do in the meantime. You do not have to fight alone.

[There that's better. He's calmer about the situation and not likely to run off on her now to confront either the wardens or her family. As for what they could do to Kija - they could send him to sector 6 and not allow him back into the main part of the facility. While he could possibly survive, he would be there without the rest of his friends. That's something Ai would like to prevent.

Just the mere thought that he would go through so much trouble for her is enough. It isn't as if her family is gone and Ai will never see them again but there still had been pain looking into their faces and seeing no real recognition.]

Good, I would certainly miss you terribly if something were to happen to you.

[An ache dwells deep in her chest and clenches tightly around her heart but there isn't anything she can do about it. She can't tell them and make that pain worse. This is different from when Ai first encountered her parents. So much wasn't the same for them and Ai can't destroy what happiness they've got with these new lives.

Joy reaches the corner of her eyes, makes them wrinkle just a bit at the shade his face is turning from her simply innocent but yet heart-felt kiss to his cheek. Ai frees one of her hands and reaches up to pat his cheek in a friendly manner. Idly she wonders if he'll freak out more when her back is turned or when he's back to normal.]

I will. Now, what do you say we return these books and find something else to do for a little while?

[A mischievious spark lights up her eyes.]

There's a bicycle place in Sector Four. You pedal, I'll steer and we'll ride through the dome as fast as possible.

[It takes no time at all for her to make a split second decision. The moment she decides they should return the books, there's no turning back. He's learned, in their short time within Marina so far, that once she's set her mind on something, there isn't any persuading her.

His heart hammered heavily within his chest even after her touch disappeared, but he managed to keep his voice level. He thought.]

A bicycle, Lad-- [Ah-- again.] Ai?

[It's going to take some getting used to...

He's not sure what to think about their activity, but it's clear that it might help distract her and keep her mind off her parents. And so he agrees in the end. In his mind, he's having trouble picturing how to make her scenario work. If she's steering, and he's pedaling...

Turning that over in his head, he follows after her.]

[Not only is Ai thinking about herself but also what Kija said to her earlier. He wants to be out in the sun. There are better things they could be doing besides sitting around reading books. While that might be nice every now and then, they should also be enjoying this nice day.

Ai looks at him as he starts in on the title but doesn't need to glare even a little before he's correcting himself.

With books in hand, she leads the way to library to return them so they can continue on unhindered by the load. It certainly will keep her mind off her parents and there are plenty of ways for this to work out. She's already thinking about the many ways (a few which may fluster Kija).]

As have I and I wanted to do it. When you live as long as we do, Kija, you have time to become interested in many things.

[How ironic it is, that her life should be so long, and his expected to be so short. Knowledge of which he doesn't have in the moment. But even in the here and now, he knows that the great length span of one of the pureblood rivals no others.

And yet here she is and truly so young.]

I've taken a number of hobbies since awaking in Marina. [All of which is true- during this odd day and in their normal lives.] I started doing pottery [For some odd reason] along with checking out their music programs.

[He's amused for a moment.] Although perhaps that one is not so surprising. [Considering how music and sound tend to walk hand in hand with him.]

[Living so long is not that big of a blessing. Maybe, if she had someone she loved who could live as long as she. Maybe if her parents could live as long. But her papa won't live as long as the rest of them. She doesn't know what her mother do when he's gone if father hasn't woken up then.

Things will be truly interesting when Kija is back to normal and all of these details are no longer lost on him.]

It's odd to have such a normal life in prison. [Truly. Ai is getting an education and simply enjoying herself in other ways. None of the responsibilities that come with being a pureblood either.] Pottery? What have you made so far?

[No really, she wants to know.

To Kija she probably shouldn't be surprised by the music considering his comment. This is something she's supposed to know but she doesn't.]
I haven't taken up any such hobbies of my own. Merely flit between one activity to the next. Maybe I should continue the lessons papa was teaching me once upon a time.

While he felt rather proud of his work in the pottery class, he feels almost a little embarrassed to share.]

I... have only made two things so far. [They aren't much.] I tried to make a dragon. [Much more similar to an eastern version vs the western picture of one.] and a cup.

She looks up at him at that even as she enters the library and heads to the desk to drop off her pile of books. Then continues to stare at him.]

We're taking a detour. I want to see them. [Ai will go to his apartment or to the pottery building if she has to in order to see them.

Ah, so he doesn't know about that.]

He was teaching me to fight hand-to-hand combat as I was growing up. I stopped for a while to focus on other things. Papa also taught me to shoot a gun should I ever find the need to.

[Not that she's ever really needed to. The hand-to-hand combat is nice good.]

They're special because you made them. [Tilts her head curiously.] Will you make something for me, Kija?

[She says it so seriously that he can't possibly take it as a joke or as teasing. Truly she does want something he's made so she can keep it - just in case.]

I've never tried my hand at pottery but my drawings as a child weren't very good so I may be terrible at attempting to make something out of clay.

[Really, she remembers the "squirrel" she drew on the exchange diary with Zero.]

They are good parents, wanting to teach me everything about the world. [Not just the things that could save her life someday.] Mother is the one who named me. Papa or father had nothing to do with it.

What can it hurt? Especially if it will make her smile.]

If you think my pottery attempts are worthy as a gift, then I will gladly make you something. [He'll have to work at it for many more hours. If it is for her, then he wants it to be impressive.] You will have to tell me if you have a preference in what.

[Something cute, like a flower? Or something strong and fierce, just like her spirit.]

[It could look like a five year old did it and Ai would still want it. Because it isn't about what it looks like and more about the memory behind its existence. Which she will surely write about in her journal - both this moment and the one where he gives it to her.

Ai is very well that she could demand anything of him and he'd do it but that isn't how she wants to do things. Not all of the time. She wants him to want to do this.]

Seeing your first two projects will not sway my mind one way or the other. I already know I would like it. [Once again she spins around so that she's walking the right way.] You decide what to make.

Clearly he's very confused about the two father situation as other people are.]
