a. Video

[Today has been a weird day. Her mother doesn't know who she is again. There are suddenly more vampires around than there had been before and she has no idea just how many people are different from how they normally are. Ai is fairly certain that she hasn't been affected by whatever's happened but can she even be sure of that?

She does keep a journal by her bed that's filled with the more important parts of her days here and everything seems to match up but would that have changed too if her memories had as well? There's just no sure answer to that question so she can only do what she can.]

Listen up, resident of MarinaNova! Show of hands - who remembers being here and who just arrived today? I only arrived about three weeks ago but if anyone needs help, I'll do my best to assist you.

Should any of you new individuals be vampires, there is a place for you to get your blood called the Vampire Blood Shack. It's located in Sector 5. Please do not feed from any of the humans here unless you have their permission. If it isn't consensual, I will intervene. It is in your best interest to not bring on the judgement of any vampire hunters that might be around.

[Ai has no idea if her papa still thinks he's a hunter or what uncle Ichiro thinks either but she will do her best to make sure it doesn't get far enough to have them brought in on the situation. Hopefully this whole ordeal is only temporary and if it is, Ai doesn't want anyone to wake up feeling guilty about their actions today. She can't prevent everything but at least she can do this for those who suddenly became vampires.]

b. action - patrolling

[After her post, Ai can be found just about anywhere in MarinaNova. She's keeping an eye out for any trouble as if this was her job. It technically was back home but it was an academy and not a prison. Sometimes Ai is patrolling on the ground, walking through the various sectors with eyes, ears and nose on the lookout for just about any kind of trouble.

Other times she's perched up on the roof of a shop watching people go by beneath her dangling legs as Ai continues to keep her senses on alert. Today was going to be a very long day and hopefully all of this would be sorted by tomorrow. If it didn't end tonight, then she wouldn't be getting any sleep at all.

She might need to head to the Blood Shack herself if that's the case because there was no way Ai was going feed off a mother who didn't know she was Ai's mother. Hopefully this wasn't permanent because she hadn't told Yuuki anything about being her daughter and didn't plan to.]

c1. action - stationary

[At some point in the day Ai went by the library and checked out a heaping pile of books. All of them are currently piled up on an outdoor table and she's flipping through them at an alarming rate. Every single book is about technology but whatever she's looking for is obviously not yet found as she places it on top of an ever growing while she grabs another one.

Her eyes flicker left to right as she scans through the information laid out before her.]

Is it because of the dimensional stabilizer maintenance?

[Ai might seem like she's not paying attention to her surroundings - too engrossed in her research but that's the case at all. The moment someone heads for her, her head pops up to look over at them.]

c2. action

[The problem with checking out so many books is that they have to be returned. Which means that Ai is carrying a stack of books that's literally taller than she is back to the library. It doesn't look as if she has any trouble actually holding on to them - she isn't struggling under the sheer weight of them. In fact, the stack isn't even really wobbling.

What is happening is that she can't see where she's going. The books are blocking her line of vision and while she can rely on what she can actually see or smell or sense - that doesn't mean it's going to be a perfectly smooth trip.

She just so happens to bump into another person. It'll upset the stack and send it tumbling down on the pair of them. One lands on top of her head directly and even she winces a little.]

Ow.

[At his approach, Ai actually stiffens. Her back goes rigid and she doesn't look up from her book just yet. Even if he's not a vampire, even if he isn't either Zero she's come to know - he is going to pick up on that. It'll make him curious and he'll probably ask about it at some point. Ai can't simply say that it's because he's a hunter - that was never really an issue for her despite being a vampire. She obeys all of the rules put in place and has never given the Association any reason to look her way so it isn't as if she can possibly be in trouble.

But he might take it as guilt if she wasn't careful. Because how can she possibly explain that his presence felt off due to the fact that he was no longer a vampire? She can't. She can't explain how his brother gave their parents to a pureblood and he became a vampire in the attack. He might not believe her.

Worse, he might and it'll hurt him so badly.

For now Ai focuses on his question rather than her reaction to him. She, very pointedly, doesn't look up at him fully or even completely relax.]

I'm not sure but something is wrong, I know that much.

	[He does notice the subtleties, and for the moment, of course he's going to mentally question it all. She already doesn't come off as most any other pureblood does. [Ai knows that it's coming - sooner or later and she has to be prepared for that time. She won't get away with lying to Zero so easily, he was too good at picking up at the smallest clues. No matter how hard she tries, today has been an emotional one for her and Ai can't hide everything.]

I do. I don't think this change is something that's so easy to notice this time. Mostly because I believe memories have been tampered with. Who would realize a change if an individual was missing memories or had them replaced with different ones?

To someone experiencing such a phenomenon, nothing would seem out of place.

[Only now does Ai look up at him.]

Did you find your brother, Kiryuu-san? [Is that he believes she refers to him? It seems strange. Always he's either been "papa" or Zero to her. There were never such formalities between the two of them.

But by his use of the word again, Ai can only assume that he has memories of being here. That maybe they've crossed paths at least once considering his role as a hunter and hers as a pureblood.

What Ai does know is that she's going to have to rescue the plant her mother gave her from her room. She'll break in if she has to.]

[A rarer instance this time around, then. She does make a very good point. Idly - briefly - it makes him think of how hunters will alter (more so erase) the memories of any human who had an encounter with a vampire. Yet, also over how purebloods can do the very same thing, and to anyone. Not that he would blindly jump to this young one before him as being at fault. She doesn't hold the the same presence or feeling that the usual pureblood does, in the first place.

This is even more unsettling. He hadn't given it much thought.]

. . .And that's certainly something the Wardens are capable of.

Have you noticed anything else apart from altered memories?

[The fact that his name is used doesn't faze Zero. The Kiryuu's are incredibly well known, and one of the strongest among the hunter lineage.]

Very easily, considering how long he rambled about me on the network.

[It's good that he isn't instantly jumping to the conclusion that she could have altered memories. She might do that if necessary - but would prefer not to. These days there aren't so many reasons to have to alter the memory of a human as there were twenty years ago. Seeing as how doing so to all of these people is pointless to Ai, she obviously doesn't find it amusing.

Yes, it appears they certainly are. So I'm attempting to ascertain whether or not it has anything to do with the maintainence they are performing on the dimensional stablizer.

[She motions to all of the books before her.

At that question, Ai does hesitate just a little.]

There are physical changes as well. [Ai does a very good job at not letting her gaze flicker down to his neck - now clean without the large tattoo that had once been there.] This I'm fairly certain they've done where necessary.

Since I've arrived I've kept a journal. I looked it over this morning when I noticed something was wrong. It matches up with what I remember. So if it is to be believed - then there are some who have suddenly become vampires where they once were not. [Or vice-versa in Zero's case but she doesn't say that.] Or my journal has been changed which is proof enough that they can manipulate something physical to go along with the different memories.

[Ah well, that answers Ai's question. So for the duration of this event, she will just have to make sure to call him by that name.]

Good, I would hate for him to have been on his own all this time.

[She's certainly on to something. That much is becoming more and more obvious. To a point it leaves him to feel embarrassed over not catching most of it himself. While at the same time he's tentative on questioning his own state during all of this. Is he one of the affected? And just who else? Even Ichiru? The potential for that is more frustrating and worrisome than Zero is over himself, personally.]

Which is something that definitely isn't unheard of.

[For something to be occurring in the midst of maintenance. A few glitches or the like. He's hardly been in Marina for even a month but plenty of things have gone awry.

His attention is snagged on one part of that in particular (but she may be expecting it in the first place).]

They were made into vampires. . .? Do you have any idea how many others? What types of other physical changes have you been noticing?

Honestly, if asked Ai might tell him he was changed in her point of view - as was Ichiru. Though she wouldn't say how. Maybe just a few changes and then tell him to come back tomorrow to continue that conversation.]

No, it's not unheard of. Vampires and hunters alike go to great lengths to make sure that memories won't be questioned. That is the point in changing them, after all.

[Her theory is that the maintenance is the reason behind the changes. Which is why she's attempting to research it with little to no success. Ai might be comprehending the material she's reading but none of it helps support or deny her theory.

Of course she's expecting it. The second question makes her frown.]

Yes, they became vampires overnight. There are at least three as far as I can tell. Since no one is panicking over the change I can only assume that they believe they've been vampires. [Hard to say when she actually hasn't talked to any of them yet.

A shake of her head.] I'm afraid I don't know enough people to notice any other physical changes.

[Except for you. Again Ai does a good job of not letting her eyes move to his neck.]

[It's a little tempting to question her about himself. Yet, at present, all he's capable of even thinking is does she really even know him to begin with? Hunters naturally keep tabs on purebloods, practically more than the rest. . .But how much news is kept on hunters? Apart from the more powerful family lines. Which the Kiryuu's most certainly are. Even just he and Ichiru are a force to be reckoned with.]

I see. I'll keep that in mind.

[It's easy enough to sense them in general.

He does watch her for the moment.]

Do you have an idea of how many here may still be their normal selves?

	[The only way to find out is to ask - whether or not Ai will answer is another story but still.] I don't keep tabs on everyone so no, I don't have an idea. Probably more are different than the amount who are the same. [So far everyone she's spoken to has changed. [It isn't exactly the direction she wanted this conversation to go but she supposes it was coming one way or another. Ai sighs and looks at the book in front of her. Might as well be honest.]

My mother. I'll look after her.

[Typically that's not the way things go, not for a long time (even longer for purebloods). But this is how it is at the moment.]

I would appreciate it if you didn't say anything to her about having a daughter, Kiryuu-san. She's not quite ready for that information. As far as she knows we're related and that's enough for now.

Yuuki Kuran only recently had her debut into society. [Then again-] I suppose it's due to how strange time is here, then? [That's the only possibility.] I won't.
