Day 385 | Action | Open
The first sense that came to the Doctor was the sound of the ocean, roaring as waves ebbed and flowed at a leisurely pace. Dark brown eyes blinked, trying to process how he got here, but the only thing that came to mind was how much he hated oceans this very moment. Oceans that contained beaches that brought back too recent memories he didn't want to dwell on any time soon.

"Yeah? And how was that sentence gonna end?"

"Does it need saying?"

Blinking once more he's out of his reverie, glancing downwards to his -- orange jumpsuit? It wasn't one of his that resided in the TARDIS for limited oxygen adventures or being out in space. "What?" He's startled, thinking perhaps he truly has lost track of time and apparently changed clothes? But these weren't his trainers either.

All his senses are registering that this certainly wasn't the TARDIS, nor his clothes, nor anywhere he recognized immediately off hand. Gradually he turns, seeing little huts and BBQ stands, and in the near distance a large building complex and a stable of sorts. Hastily he makes his way towards these buildings in hopes people could explain where he might be, during which he's being informed by his communicator a quick run-down of his current situation and location.

His affinity for shops took the edge off his irritation and confusion as he approached the convenience store. Popping his head in, he's relieved to see other people before he steps in. "Has anyone seen a big blue police box anywhere?"

"A blue...?" She turns toward the voice and pauses in her confirmation as she she realizes that voice was familiar after all—so is his appearance. The pink-haired teen stares without meaning to.

It's just that the last time she saw him, she was inside of him.

Well, not exactly him.

The wardens like to have their fun and one day people woke up in bodies that were not their own. Some were swapped among people within the prison and some were imported like hers.

She had woken up and seen her reflection and assumed she was in The Doctor's body. She'd met him before, though she never got to know him well beyond an initial greeting. That's probably why she didn't realize any of the little differences that might have explained she was actually in the body of a man named Kilgrave, who she has never known, but who she learned had powers to control people's actions.

Staring at The Doctor now she thinks he has that same power.

"Ah, I'm sorry. Hello." A little flustered for words.

"Hello, there!" The Doctor greeted her pleasantly, having not a clue of her inner thoughts of mistaken identity. He's more amused by her pink hair than anything at the moment.

"Have you seen a big blue police box anywhere? I think I may have lost it." He was in hopes that people might have passed it in the hallways or somewhere else within this sector.

And then the Doctor wondered, briefly, if she was scared by him. "Are you alright?"

"Yes?" Though she answers a bit uncertainly before centering herself with a deep breath and a smile. "I mean, yes, of course. I'm just surprised to see you again. Welcome back, Doctor."

And there was a question in there, right? "I haven't seen any blue boxes." What kind of box was that again? Well, regardless, no boxes for her. "Are you sure you arrived with it?"

"Tell me, what did I look like before I've come back? A long scarf? Did I have an affinity for cricket?" He rattled off some of his previous regenerations, though he hopes if it's a future one, he was at least ginger at some point.

"Well, I can't be too certain I have. I don't even figure out how I got here in the first place." Worse things have happened, so it couldn't be the end of the world just yet.

"You looked just like you do now." Other doctors have passed through briefly, but she never had the occasion to meet them. She looks at him curious, because it is a somewhat odd thing to ask after all.

"Ah, but yes, the wardens tend to take even some of the things we have on our person when we arrive. Especially weapons, and I've never heard of them letting anything large in with an inmate." And a police box must be large if it can hold a police officer, right?

Just... like him? Funny, the Doctor didn't recall ever being here before. Perhaps his memory was tampered with? Now that was a little unsettling. Even more unsettling that being given a prophecy of his impending death.

"Ah, perhaps." He replies a little dejectedly, "I don't like having her missing." Clearly he was going to have to explore more and see if he could find anything. "Do you know where they keep the items they've removed from us?"

"No." She looks thoughtful though. It's simply nothing she's ever really considered before. "I'm not sure. Maybe with our bodies?"

"There's a kiosk in sector 0 where you can request things. They might want you to have rehabilitation points first though."

The Doctor uttered a sigh. There was plenty he needed to learn about this place, still. Reminding himself he had only just arrived here the a major factor in all of this.

"How long have you been here?"

"Since almost the first day, but I only remember from Day 36 onward. And then I was missing for ten days." Which is a more complete answer than likely needed but it does show how complicated it can be.

"Almost a year."

Nodding and following along her explanation, he was surprised at her answer. "Where did you go for 10 days?"

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. The Doctor would be searching for days about this place. Any little detail helps!

"I wasn't connected I suppose. It didn't feel like any time passed for me, but it had for everyone else." She looks thoughtful for a moment. "You've heard it's a virtual reality, haven't you?"

"I have!" Oh did the Doctor know about that, and matters of altering one's mind. "All too well, perhaps."

Now he was more curious than ever about this place.

"This is a virtual reality. We're all here, but we're in medical tanks. At least that's what I've been told from others who have seen it for themselves."
