Day 385 | Action | Open
The first sense that came to the Doctor was the sound of the ocean, roaring as waves ebbed and flowed at a leisurely pace. Dark brown eyes blinked, trying to process how he got here, but the only thing that came to mind was how much he hated oceans this very moment. Oceans that contained beaches that brought back too recent memories he didn't want to dwell on any time soon.

"Yeah? And how was that sentence gonna end?"

"Does it need saying?"

Blinking once more he's out of his reverie, glancing downwards to his -- orange jumpsuit? It wasn't one of his that resided in the TARDIS for limited oxygen adventures or being out in space. "What?" He's startled, thinking perhaps he truly has lost track of time and apparently changed clothes? But these weren't his trainers either.

All his senses are registering that this certainly wasn't the TARDIS, nor his clothes, nor anywhere he recognized immediately off hand. Gradually he turns, seeing little huts and BBQ stands, and in the near distance a large building complex and a stable of sorts. Hastily he makes his way towards these buildings in hopes people could explain where he might be, during which he's being informed by his communicator a quick run-down of his current situation and location.

His affinity for shops took the edge off his irritation and confusion as he approached the convenience store. Popping his head in, he's relieved to see other people before he steps in. "Has anyone seen a big blue police box anywhere?"

"Don't think you'll be seeing that around here, I'm afraid," Jack advises him with some regret - he misses the TARDIS - from the doorway.

Of course he followed the Doctor into the store when he caught a glimpse of him. Even after everything, he'd follow this man anywhere.

He could recognize that voice anywhere. Spinning around, the Doctor is now face to face with one Captain Jack Harkness and meets him with a wide, toothy smile. There's a tone of relief hidden in that smile, as the Doctor wasn't one to be fond of missing things and having no recollection of possibly being captured and brought here, let alone losing a TARDIS, wasn't welcomed.

"Jack!" He closes the distance between the two and doesn't hesitate to bring him in a hug. Hands are still touching him as he pulls back, "How did we get here?"

The hug is returned with warm enthusiasm. He may not be as mad about the Doctor as he used to be, but it's still really good to see him.

"Doctor," he acknowledges, as the Doctor pulls back, and he's smiling widely. "Can't really answer that one, I'm afraid. Some sort of transmat, I guess, but I'm sure you've worked that out already. They can pull people in from all across time and space, and other dimensions or realities too."

Unfortunately, that had crossed his mind. The Doctor didn't want to acknowledge it, but he had a feeling something like that had happened. Was it sad that he thought being taken captive was an easier and more hoped-for explanation?

He would inquire about Jack possessing another vortex manipulator, but then realized they probably wouldn't be standing here arm-in-arm. "How long have you been here?" The Doctor looks around, as if this shop could provide him some clues.

Oh, Jack still has his wrist strap, but thanks to the wardens it can only perform a selection of relatively basic of tasks here. (Apart from being as virtual as everything else here, of course.)

"Six months, give or take," he responds, watching the Doctor look about him, wondering what he'd make of this place. "You've just arrived, I assume?" He would have heard about it before, otherwise, he's fairly sure!

He pauses, because the last couple of Doctors he'd seen here - albeit briefly - had had a different face to this one, and the other had the same face but was half-human. He'd really like some context here. "When did they snatch you from, Doctor? Rose? Martha? The Master? Donna?"

Luke is just a little perplexed. The galaxy far, far away doesn't have Doctor Who, so he has no idea what the guy is talking about. Still, he's curious.

"What's a police box? Although I do suspect that if I have to ask, I probably haven't seen one..." he said.

The Doctor edges his way to the older man, taking note there's certainly wisdom behind those eyes of his, "A big blue box -- police box -- though the telephone doesn't work. It's bigger on this inside..." He moves his hands pantomiming out a box as he speaks, as if that would assist in finding it.

With a sigh, "Oh, it's probably hidden away."

"Oh, like a hologram, you mean?" he asked. It wasn't terribly common to see use of technological holograms outside of communication, but it wasn't unheard of, certainly. Luke didn't think it could be Force-related, although he couldn't feel it strongly to know for sure.

"I'm not sure if it's actually here or not. Have you been told about this place?" he asked.

"Not a hologram, but a physical box." The Doctor confirmed, though at this point if he did see a hologram, he'd accept it. "It's my ship, and I am usually better about keeping track of it, but I don't know how I got here in the first place."

He hated to admit such a thing, but it seemed like others were in the same predicament.

With a shake to his head, "No, never. Similar places, of course, but not here specifically. You?" He had a feeling he knew that answer.

"Ah. Very interesting...I'm not entirely familiar with that kind of technology. Most of our ships are a lot bigger than would fit inside a building."

"No, not really. I haven't been here long, so I'm still getting used to it. All they've said is what I think we all get told when we wake up here...that it's some kind of prison, and we're guilty. I think it's all up to a being's point of view, though, as to what's actually criminal."

Now that they are back in the regular prison and everything seems accounted for, Martha finds herself in teh convenience store for some snacks. It's just a normal day after all. And then... was it him? Was it really him?

Martha poked her head out of the aisle.

"Doctor? Doctor!" She dropped her basket as she ran toward him.

The Doctor turns around quick enough to grab Martha as she dashed towards him, wrapping her in a hug. "Martha!" and pulling away slightly to see her excited features, "How did you get here?" Maybe she could explain something UNIT had buggered up and he could fix it somehow.

It was rather irritating with missing details from his memory. It's happened before in the past, but not usually this long.

It's a hug she's needed for a while. Martha missed the Doctor. Her Doctor. His later incarnation had been here a few times, but never stuck around long. And she had never felt all that connected to him when he was here either. But really, Martha needed a friend from home, and she still wasn't sure where she stood with Jack and Ianto.

"I got here just like everyone else did. Woke up one day here." Was actually here twice, but that was more information than he really needed right now.

"It's so good to see you!" she says, finally pulling back. "You you. Not future generation you."

Hold up, that made him pause and the face he possessed gave away exactly how he felt about what she had mentioned. "You've met... me? Well other me?" And then curiosity got the better of him, "Am I ginger?"

Please say yes, Martha! He always wanted to be ginger!

But coming back to her original words, "What was the last thing you remembered before coming here?" Maybe there would be a connection!

"I... what? No. Brown hair. Younger too. Looked too young to be doing the job really. Minus your eyes. You're eyes were older."

Older than they are now. Martha's hands linked with his. As he studied her he might notice the scar at her neck. Perhaps he'll notice the scar tissue on her right arm, disappearing under her sleeve. Martha had dealt with some impressive monsters here Doctor.

"Last I remember... Mickey and I were discussing a possible case. We're married now."

"A blue...?" She turns toward the voice and pauses in her confirmation as she she realizes that voice was familiar after all—so is his appearance. The pink-haired teen stares without meaning to.

It's just that the last time she saw him, she was inside of him.

Well, not exactly him.

The wardens like to have their fun and one day people woke up in bodies that were not their own. Some were swapped among people within the prison and some were imported like hers.

She had woken up and seen her reflection and assumed she was in The Doctor's body. She'd met him before, though she never got to know him well beyond an initial greeting. That's probably why she didn't realize any of the little differences that might have explained she was actually in the body of a man named Kilgrave, who she has never known, but who she learned had powers to control people's actions.

Staring at The Doctor now she thinks he has that same power.

"Ah, I'm sorry. Hello." A little flustered for words.

"Hello, there!" The Doctor greeted her pleasantly, having not a clue of her inner thoughts of mistaken identity. He's more amused by her pink hair than anything at the moment.

"Have you seen a big blue police box anywhere? I think I may have lost it." He was in hopes that people might have passed it in the hallways or somewhere else within this sector.

And then the Doctor wondered, briefly, if she was scared by him. "Are you alright?"

"Yes?" Though she answers a bit uncertainly before centering herself with a deep breath and a smile. "I mean, yes, of course. I'm just surprised to see you again. Welcome back, Doctor."

And there was a question in there, right? "I haven't seen any blue boxes." What kind of box was that again? Well, regardless, no boxes for her. "Are you sure you arrived with it?"

"Tell me, what did I look like before I've come back? A long scarf? Did I have an affinity for cricket?" He rattled off some of his previous regenerations, though he hopes if it's a future one, he was at least ginger at some point.

"Well, I can't be too certain I have. I don't even figure out how I got here in the first place." Worse things have happened, so it couldn't be the end of the world just yet.

"You looked just like you do now." Other doctors have passed through briefly, but she never had the occasion to meet them. She looks at him curious, because it is a somewhat odd thing to ask after all.

"Ah, but yes, the wardens tend to take even some of the things we have on our person when we arrive. Especially weapons, and I've never heard of them letting anything large in with an inmate." And a police box must be large if it can hold a police officer, right?

"A call box!" He pantomimes what exactly it looks like, then sighs. "I don't think he's here." Granted, he hasn't searched the entire station, but he had his surfacing doubts about it.

"A call box?" Like a box where you could make calls, then, similar to communication Lacrymas and these things they can contact each other with here? "I'm sorry that he isn't." Whoever he is. The box?
