[The lack of involvement from their captors make Bruce nervous -- if this was Gotham he would have the money to try to get food into Gotham. To help people. He would have the resources to investigate what's going on -- he lacks the gear and technology he's acquired over the years in the Batcave. There are creatures here that he didn't know really existed before like vampires asking for volunteers with the food shortage (it's not hard to put two and two together from Damon's post, after all, and the place is called the Blood Shack). How long until they lash out?

Until someone gets hurt?

It makes him restless.

He hasn't exactly been putting himself out there to make friends here beyond his first post -- Bruce is not a social being despite the airs he puts on for the public back home. He's kept in contact with Kara, and that's about it. Alfred would be disappointed -- but when isn't he?

He can survive eating less. He pushes his body to extremes on the regular -- what he worries about is other people.

He is weary and tired and he chooses not to broadcast himself at the moment and instead just speaks over the network.
]

Considering the shortage of food I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't try implementing some sort of rationing system -- we don't know how long this will last and the last thing any of us wants is to run out. The human body can endure a lot and as long as we stay hydrated we probably will survive assuming this doesn't last more than a couple more days -- but it's important to be smart about it.

I was just starting to think the same thing. Normally these things are over within a day, but since this seems to be continuing...

Exactly. We need to prepare for the worst, in case it lasts any longer.

Absolutely. It's something we're already looking into in the Defence Force.

...I'm sorry, I don't think we've met yet, have we? Captain Jack Harkness, Sectors 0-2 Team Leader.

The Defense Force, I've heard of you though I have not looked into you personally yet. I've only been here a few days so far.

Bruce Wayne.

Are there not animals within Sector Six? Perhaps it would be wise to find the tools needed to hunt.

From what I understand many of the beasts there are dangerous but if there are those with the ability to defend themselves who would be willing to hunt it could work.

If they are like those lizards that escaped before, they do not seem so frightening to me. I would be happy to hunt for those who might need it.

I doubt people are desperate enough at this point to just blindly follow others.

[And considering how many strong willed characters seem to be here. Plus, there's the small matter of their bodies not actually existing in this plane, i.e. therefore, food is not an actual requirement? Should they test that out?]

You'll have to do inventory, and gather information on what type of sustenance every one needs to survive. [Not everyone eats meats and potatoes here.] Are you up for that?

I agree, but implementing such a system might be easier said than done.

[Bonnie tilts her head thoughtfully.] There're a few bot-run restaurants, right? We could see how much food's left.

It's true, it probably won't be easy but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

Getting an inventory of sorts of what the restaurants have left would be a good start, if nothing else.

Alright, well... I already have the inventory for the Blood Shack, so I could drop that by whenever.

[She might've taken the liberty a few days back, when she realized Damon wasn't super interested in the actual, physical upkeep of the Shack.]

Where would be a good place to leave it?

We're not running out quite yet -- but the supplies aren't being replenished like they normally are, it is something we should not ignore until it becomes an actual problem.

[Sarah is basically the queen of ignoring things until they become a problem.]

So we have to ration? Doesn't that mean getting so little it doesn't really matter?

[She gets her information from fiction. Fiction is not fact. She doesn't always remember that - particularly since the last fiction book she read turned out to be fact.]

[Sebastian's voice is calm and thoughtful when he responds - if he's worried, it certainly doesn't show.]

There are fourteen establishments serving food of some kind in the dome, out of which two specialise in desserts, two serve mainly alcohol, and one mainly caters to the resident vampires. Eleven of these are not run by inmates.

[That is if Sebastian counts himself as currently running The Bistro... which he pretty much does, even if it's not official. Maybe he is worried after all, if he's been going around taking note of every place to find food?]

Additionally there are two stores carrying food, as well as the food stands in Sector 0.

Taking stock of what is available to us at present should not be a monumental task, all things considered, provided everyone cooperates. I myself could relay what is to be found at The Bistro.

[Agreeing on a rationing system, however... Good luck with that.]

(Reply to this) (Thread)

it totally works for me
[info]signalized
2016-06-17 11:55 pm UTC (link)
I agree, given the relatively small size of the dome and the establishments here it should not be difficult to produce an inventory of what we have left.

Once we know that much we can at least figure out what, if anything, we need to do next.

[If he had a mind, Sebastian could easily deliver an inventory of the entire place in five minutes' time. He is, however, a callous jerk and won't - not unless ordered to.]

Very good, sir. Might we turn to you with our findings, then?

[You can't make a broadcast like this and then don't volunteer for leadership, Sebastian thinks.]

And assuming it does? [ Don't mind him, Lelouch is just a worst-case scenarios sort of person. ] --We're in an ocean, aren't we? There's a beach, isn't there? [ Fishing should be simple enough... ]

Assuming it does we will need to figure out something to make the most of what we have that benefits as many people as possible.

There is a beach. I am unsure, however, whether there is any actual fish we could rely on as a good source there. It is something worth looking into.

[ Fair point, if troubling. ]

Construct and set up traps. Both in the ocean and... Sector Six. [ Because he isn't ignoring your other conversations. Where by 'not ignoring' we mean 'monitoring'. ] Minimum expenditure of calories. [ Checking the restaurants is also good, and rationing, but... for the future. ]

Have you been to the kiosk? [ Because he has. ]
