Normally I would ask what kinds of foods you have had and what you preferred out of that - and then give my recommendations based on your answer. But in a case of strongly limited experience... [Hmm.]
Perhaps a cheese pie. A mild, creamy flavour is seldom an acquired taste. Or, should you want something heartier, I might go with whiskey-glazed lapine [no other reason than Sebastian seldom getting to cook rabbit, really] with grilled fruit and a gratin dauphinois. Such a combination of sweet and salty also is usually favourably received by most, I have found.
