Day 372 | Closed Video to Jack | Open Action
[Video to Jack]

[She'd forgotten her umbrella when she walked out. Whatever. Martha certainly wasn't going to turn around and go get it. She should calm down before calling Jack. But she doesn't follow that line of reasoning either. The video of her is clearly one pissed off, wet Martha.]

Anything. You'd do anything to get him back. Bastard!

---

[Open Action]

After hanging up with Jack, Martha looked around. She hadn't been paying attention to where she was going, but found herself in Sector 0. Seemed she'd been walking laps. She hadn't felt this off balance in a while. She thought about going to yell at Spike too, though that honestly wouldn't make any of this better. No, perhaps she needed to go back to early in her time here when Oz had taught her meditation techniques.

The rain wasn't so helpful with this, so she made her way to the Tree Grove and found a tree with a decent overhang. It would keep her decently dry. Martha sat cross legged and closed her eyes. She forced her breathing to deepen, forced her mind to calm. The rain was had a more pleasant sound here. It added to the peace of the moment. In and out. In and out.

"Likewise, I suppoe. I'm J." He also doesn't know if it will actually be a pleasure to know her, but he always was up for new experiences and getting to know other people. If they didn't care to get to know him, on the otherhand? He didn't give a damn.

Martha stands so she's not craning her neck to look at him.

"Pleasure to meet you J. Settling in all right?" Because he does look young and she does have a caring streak to her. She even gives him a tiny smile.

He may be only 16 but he is an actual fullfledged criminal, and has no actual objections to being in prison, except the one part where he still really want to take down the Storyteller.

"Yeah, since it's much more ground and activities and cats here than at regular prisons, it's very easy to adapt." He might like cats a lot. They matter.

"Complete lack of required work too. Definitely better than the last prison I was in," she replies. "Though their crimes list could be a little less contradictory."

"I guess that that is a perk as well," he agrees. "So you consider the crimes you are accused of as contradictory, Miss?" He would call her ma'am but he is a polite terrorist, so he doesn't.

Martha nods. "Very much so. Some are contradictory. Others trivial. I mean, everyone jaywalks at some point in their life. No reason to slap a life sentence on that. But so many of the crimes happened while trying to save the world."

Ah, so she was a hero then, was she? That didn't necessarily bring any good with it in the long run, and could end badly. "Perhaps whoever chooses convicts are not picky with the typers of crimes, and simply chooses to keep it simple by choosing the same punishment."

"Or the fact that you destroyed the world before saving it really is quite bad. Though it would have been nice for them to pick one or the other."

Hero. Yes. Martha would call herself that. World destroying aside.

“I’m curious, how did you do that?” She destroyed it, then saved it… Destroyed it how? The same way the Storyteller intended to destroy the world, saving it the same way? Or in a different way?

(By the way, he thinks heroes are bullshit.)

"I gave a man a watch." Made him notice it really. It was dumb. And she realizes she sounds completely cryptic, but she's not going to elaborate unless he asks.

"I have given people watches before as well," or, he gave his older half brother their mother's watch to provoke him. "and the world didn't get destroyed or saved," he just ended up getting shot. "How does it work?"

"The watch held the consciousness of a mad dictator. When he opened the watch, that's who he became." It was an honest mistake. Really. Anyone could have made it.

"Now that sounds like quite the story." It had to be because of some kind of magic. He didn't know much about magic but it had to be something like that, he guessed.

"Mmmm.. And perhaps someday I'll tell it. But today is not that day." She's done talking. And she's a little cold.

"If you'll excuse me, I've had a very long day and need to go home."

"How unfortunate. I hope that I might be able to hear the story one day." But he gets it. To be fair, most people can't handle being around him for an extended period of time either way. "Thank you for taking the time to talk to me despite that."

"You're welcome J. I'm sure we'll see each other around."

It's a small prison after all. Having nothing else to say though, Martha makes her retreat.
