The power is a sacred one. The dragon gods originally gave four noble human beings the power needed to protect their king, who descended to earth in order to live and rule among humans. [Eyes closing, he continues the story soberly.]
Those four human beings became known as dragon warriors. Mankind can be wicked however. Eventually the king died, and it left the four warriors without a king to follow. Their blood was tied to both each other, as well as King Hiryuu. It is an unbreakable bond, and one that pledges our allegiance to our king.
[Lifting a hand up, he gently touches his chest.] Thousands of years later, that blood has continued to be passed down to one individual within each dragon clan, even unto me. It was preserved so that the day King Hiryuu was reborn, we would carry on the legacy of our ancestors to serve and protect the king, where our many predecessors were never given the opportunity.
[That is why it is not just a duty, but an honor. His father, and the many other Hakuryuu before him all died without having been able to fulfill their own wish, except to pass on the power so that one day someone would be there for the king once more. That day has come, and with it he carries the unfulfilled wishes and desires of all who came before him.]
King Hiryuu has been reborn, and I have been privileged with the opportunity to serve beneath her.
