It's dishonest of her and unfair to him, but there was a difference between allowing someone not from her galaxy see her budding talents and putting them on display for someone who knew what that power could do. Who'd seen and experienced all of its unpleasant edges. Who knew well of the fears that were tethered to them, and how deathly afraid she was of becoming exactly like the man who wielded that power while bathed in darkness.
