Yo, clinic staff and anyone else who's got a little experience with CPR or lifeguarding, is a particularly strong swimmer or whose got skills that might be useful for us if the water rises much higher - put your hand up. The Force here's looking for volunteers but I'm going to be the one poking you all with a stick to get organized.

[Karev's wet to the bone, still packing waterproofed supplies - the last of it from the clinic. Anything for small abrasions from floating garbage to CPR mouth guards. Not that they'll likely see much use, hopefully. He looks a little tired but it's not the first time he's worked through a hangover and frankly, it's forgotten pretty quick. As terrible as it sounds, he thrives on a good disaster. The ability to do something in a good disaster.]

Keep tabs on your friends and neighbors, not everyone knows how to swim or how to admit that they never learned. Once someone goes under there's only a short period of time to do something in. After about seven minutes, they're gone. And don't go trying to be a savior if you're not trained to, either, because a drowning person can drag you down too if you're not prepared.

[Private to Gwen Cooper]

[This comes a little later after his first broadcast, and this is only voice. He - debated doing this, honestly. But here he is because ignoring it didn't help, it only made him pack three of the same thing into one pack.] Yo.

You getting along okay in this crap?

[Karev waits until she's grabbed it before he gives it a try, being a little Jack to her Rose without trying. (And if the debris didn't hold he would've done the same thing, but it does and so there's no need to even address it.) He's starting to feel the achy strain and the bone chilling cold of being drenched right down to the core and left to swim in it.]

If you - feel like you're gonna let go, tell me. I'll have you. I'll get us a relay or something. [He tries to sound confident, reassuring, as he then uses the device to try and ping someone for help. Admitting he's in over his head sucks but hey, so does drowning.]

[The safety of not having to strain her own body into floating, being able to hold on to something that will stay floating no matter how high the tide rises, helps Gwen's brain to return to the sharpness it had lost. Looking at Karev, watching him trying to get contact something sparks in her and she reaches over the piece of debris and grasps his hand. Holding on to it hard, trying to tell him, without distracting him from what he's doing, that she's got him too.

They can't die down here. This isn't even them, of course they can't die. BUt it feels enough like them for her to be frightened. Even if dying no longer means death, Gwen has no desire to go through it.]

I won't let go.

[He knows she's holding his hand and he's not pulling away from it but he does his best not to acknowledge it either, even though his fingers curl back against hers.]

Good. They- someone's coming. [He shifts, leaning against the debris.] We'll be up there before we know it.

[Gwen holds on. Fingers stiff with cold. Heart beating so hard it makes her sick. Looking up through the rain, trying not to get it in her eyes. Looking up at the floating island above which seems so safe. For now.]

Sounds.. Sounds good. Sounds good.

[His hand holds on to hers and that's all he really has for her, the touch and the reminder people are coming. Things he says to people all the time, whether it's true or not. They're sick, they're bleeding and all he can do is tell them things will be alright and he'll see them through it all. He believes it this time, even though he knows there are times he's talking out of his ass. He doesn't let her go, not until they have their rescue. And like every other time; there's a rush of relief not unlike a set of ambulance lights on a dark and rainy road.]

[ooc; good to cut? I'm still up for floral business, even as a backtag fyi!]

[Sure! He's totally not looking for her or anything, as it were.]
