Yo, clinic staff and anyone else who's got a little experience with CPR or lifeguarding, is a particularly strong swimmer or whose got skills that might be useful for us if the water rises much higher - put your hand up. The Force here's looking for volunteers but I'm going to be the one poking you all with a stick to get organized.

[Karev's wet to the bone, still packing waterproofed supplies - the last of it from the clinic. Anything for small abrasions from floating garbage to CPR mouth guards. Not that they'll likely see much use, hopefully. He looks a little tired but it's not the first time he's worked through a hangover and frankly, it's forgotten pretty quick. As terrible as it sounds, he thrives on a good disaster. The ability to do something in a good disaster.]

Keep tabs on your friends and neighbors, not everyone knows how to swim or how to admit that they never learned. Once someone goes under there's only a short period of time to do something in. After about seven minutes, they're gone. And don't go trying to be a savior if you're not trained to, either, because a drowning person can drag you down too if you're not prepared.

[Private to Gwen Cooper]

[This comes a little later after his first broadcast, and this is only voice. He - debated doing this, honestly. But here he is because ignoring it didn't help, it only made him pack three of the same thing into one pack.] Yo.

You getting along okay in this crap?

Is there much choice? [He doesn't feel there is.]

Going up? I guess... you could rise with the water if you find a raft or something. Not sure how safe it'll be.

I really don't have a choice. Pretty sure Kitty would drown me herself rather than let me stay down here.

Dude... [He knows you're not supposed to talk ill of exes unless prompted but.]

She really needs to get off your back.

[ He shrugs. What can he even say? She has her reasons, yes and she needs to back the hell off. Especially after today. ]

You can stand on your own two legs. Aren't you older than her?

Yeah, but... have you met her? She doesn't exactly act like nineteen. [ Except when she does. ]

I know what it's like to act beyond your years but at the same time, you can't go around bossing actual adults around.

[...] I get she's fit for the job but should she really be running everything? It's a lot of responsibility on a teenager.

Could we maybe avoid referring to her as a child. [ He's fucked that nineteen year old, you know. ]

And... I don't know. Who else would do it? Buffy isn't here anymore. We're not exactly drowning in leaders.

I never said child, you did. [Just. No hands up gesture but the tone of voice to accompany it. Sorry though, man.]

But I'm saying this much for her benefit, Reid. The Force should have a group of leaders, a board, something other than one woman not just giving all the orders but taking all the flack. She's gonna wear out, Reid. And it can't be you who has to deal with that too.

It used to be like that, when we had more people. There'd be sector leaders... sector teams. There's not enough of us left to divide the group like that anymore. [ He sighs. ]

I know she's going to crash eventually. I'm also pretty sure she doesn't know how to do anything else.

[Boy can he related to that, but...] There'll be people to catch her.

Just don't think it has to be you, alright?

[ Shaking his head. ] It's not going to be me. I don't even think I'd do any good at this point.

We're not exactly on good terms.

Not lately, no. Feels like it wasn't long ago that you couldn't walk a block before being invited to some party.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of places to hide if another jamboree comes to town.

I'll find a mancave to hide out in.
