I attacked him to stop him hurting anyone else. He'd attacked me, and then my boyfriend, and I hadn't done anything except make a few threats - and because I hadn't done anything, he then went and attacked a load more people. I decided I needed to speak to him in a language he understood.
[He gives her a tight, tense smile.] And okay, there was some anger there too. I'm only human. Anger, and guilt, that people had got hurt because I hadn't dealt with the problem effectively before. That's why I went for him with the baseball bat. But I didn't load my gun with wooden bullets and kill him outright, because I wanted to give him a chance to stop him being a danger without killing him, by restoring his soul. [He folds his arms.] I still stand by that decision.
