DAY 263 ✯ ACCIDENTAL VIDEO.
[ the feed opens to show seven of nine standing inside her alcove, the borg technology a stark contrast against the white walls of the room it's been placed in. her eyes are closed and she's unmoving, standing perfectly still on the platform as if a switch has been flipped and she's been left dormant, offline.

for a few minutes, the feed remains static and unchanged, but then a computerized voice sounds— ]
EIGHTEEN HUNDRED HOURS. REGENERATION CYCLE COMPLETE.

[ seven's eyes snap open and she steps off the platform, recharged, fully alert, and suddenly very aware of the headset she left on the console, its screen bright and obviously recording. ]

This per▓▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒░ing troublesome.

[ And he does so, returning her smile with one of his own, accompanied by a nod. ]

Thank you.

[ And he arches his brows, tilting his head slightly. ]

It will likely not surprise you to learn that your statement did not broadcast clearly to the network. However, I am fairly confident in my current theory that you were likely commenting on the issues associated with the maintenance the wardens claim to be taking place today.

I have been able to stabilize transmissions temporarily, but the signal steadily degrades after a few minutes. Whatever is being done to the network is interfering with it. I am hesitant to call that maintenance.

[ she doesn't trust the wardens and their claims for a second and likely never will. ]

Did my broadcast disturb you?

[ He has his own doubts; there's certainly a reason he's phrased it as the wardens' "claims." ]

I have been experiencing similar difficulties - and similar hesitation as well.

[ At the question he tilts his head, frowning lightly. ]

In what way?

The static is unpleasant.

[ "sensitive" hearing. her audio processors protest the erratic frequency. ]

[ He gives a nod of understanding there. ]

Ah. I have been able to adjust my hearing as necessary to compensate.

[ And then a slight furrow. ]

Are you experiencing discomfort due to the static?

[ she feels a slight pang of envy for his ability to self adjust. she could do so with ease when she was still fully borg, but now that she is only partially a drone, she needs tools and the proper instruments in order to make the necessary adjustments without damaging herself. ]

Yes, but the facility lacks the equipment needed to make the adjustments.

[ A slightly tilted shake of his head, displaying his conveying with this shortcoming. ]

Though clearly we cannot be certain whether an incident such as this would recur, perhaps it would not be unwise to request said equipment.

[ Generally speaking, he finds what is available to them to be unacceptable. Particularly given their particular natures. ]

I would prefer not to trust any of the equipment they would provide when it comes to making alterations to my bodily functions.

[ this bristling brought to you today by a distrust of the wardens and what captain ransom ordered the doctor to do to her. seven turns away from him, moving to retrieve one of the ipads she's been in the process of reprogramming to function more like the PADDs they're familiar with. ]

An understandable preference - though, in our current situation, anything which is available to us has been provided at some point by those maintaining the facility.

[ He's not especially fond of that fact himself, but he can't not point it out. He recognizes, though, that it is not the most important factor at work here. ]

However, it is clearly your decision to make. If using such items would cause you discomfort, then that is to be respected and they should not be used.

[ he has a point, and seven finds herself looking over her shoulder at the alcove she stepped out of just moments before. ]

I do not want to be tampered with. [ it's a forced admission, but something she needs to say; something he might already understand. ] My body has been modified throughout the course of the last eighteen years without my consent, without the ability to consent to it, and a friend and mentor was recently forced to do much the same to me. I do not wish to be altered by means I am not comfortable with.

[ she didn't enjoy feeling this unease about something she previously didn't take much issue with. the doctor or captain janeway could stroll right up to her and alter one of her implants and she would think nothing of it. now... ]

And there is no reason that you should be.

[ Quite sincerely, of course, and he frowns. He is more than trouble by the clear effect that the events she has experienced since leaving has had on her. ]

You are an individual, and as such, it should always be your decision whether anything should be done to you. That is neither a question nor a point of debate.
