You get a hold of Quatre yet?

This whole thing about him being dangerous, I've never heard him talk like that before. Sounds kinda outta character for him.

Hope you guys know what this is, cause it'd have to be some pretty scary shit to make Quatre flip a switch like that, not as though he's not capable of being dangerous. It's just outside of a battlefield?

You know what I mean...

[This was starting to sound a little familiar, but Duo hadn't been through that in person. Trowa and Heero had intercepted him... with kind of disastrous results, but he had the gist of it.

There were things they tended to avoid talking about... partially because Duo still didn't want to face it all himself, either. He glossed it over a lot when it came up.]

Sounds kinda familiar. Might be our Q, but from the past. My past, at least. Possibly Tro's, too. [He tapped his chin in thought.] He'd know better'n me, though. He was the one who got him at that point... if it's the point I'm thinkin' of.

Hey, being a gundam pilot, being dangerous in battle goes without saying, but I'd never expect Quatre to attack us... His comrades. Not unless he had a good reason. [The guy is a genius and arguably the most cunning of them all as far as strategy goes.]

If it is-- Maybe I should stay away for a while. Might be far easier in the long run to ease him into the idea of there being two of us.

Maybe. Once he calms down a bit. I'm hoping it won't take too long.

But, uh... yeah. See. Q kinda went off the deep end back home, and hurt Trowa pretty bad. He thought he killed him. So, if it's that, then he's likely thinking he's going to kill the rest of us, too. He threatened Heero around the same time.

It was kinda rough.

If that's what this is... which, I'm thinking it might be.

So that happened there, too, huh?

I think it was right around that time for us, too. We were separated... ran back to space after getting beat up on Earth. We went into hiding because OZ had threatened the colonies and then found a way to turn them against us.

If I'd been able to... [He might have gotten himself killed, but he was thinking probably not. He wasn't ever lucky enough to get killed.] Nah. Can't think about it now. Just gotta help him get through it again.

The Winner Family was a pretty big target, and the way Barton looked at it, he could take at least one of us out.

[That being Quatre of course.]

Holding the colony hostage, and then the Winner family to get Quatre to surrender.

Do me a favor and don't mention this to him. Not much of a point, y'know? Just muddles it all.

[Y'know, he's starting to feel a little isolated here. He's the only one who doesn't fit the puzzle, so to speak. Aw well. He'll deal.]

Yeah... no problem.

I mean, it's not much different for us, but it was OZ instead of Barton that took out Q's family. Turned the colony against his dad.

But, you're right. It's best we don't dump it all on him at once. He sounds pretty fragile at the moment.

[He hadn't realized just how far off the deep end Quatre had gone. It was a little scary, and he wondered if he'd have flipped the same way if his parents had still been alive until the war. Then again, if his parents had still been alive, would he have even ended up with a Gundam in the first place?

He shook his head a little to knock those thoughts loose.]

The Duo from my world is correct. Quatre seems to think that he has killed me, which would mean it is sometime after the battle when he was being controlled by the ZERO system.

When he saw me, the look on his face was like seeing a ghost, he ran initially and he said I was a hallucination. After first seeing me, he didn't want to look at me.

It is a system installed initially just in the Wing ZERO. It calculates all possibilities of a future and sends it to the pilot. Majority of those who try to pilot it suffer a mental overload and lose their mind and suffer hallucinations. The Quatre in our world had this happened and went on a rampage, destroying colonies. Heero and I went to stop him, but he didn't want to and fought Heero. To save him and stop Quatre, I got between one of Quatre's attacks on Heero and the mobile suit exploded.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you anything else because I had amnesia until my own attempt at using the ZERO system and Quatre trying to stop me restored them.

I would assume he came out of it because I wasn't told of anything else and he was back to normal when he came to find me.

It does mean though that unless his empathy tells him I am who I claim to be, he could continue to think I am a hallucination and that he has killed me. Which is not going to happen today with the restraint that blocks out abilities. It might take a few days for to settle in before he starts getting back to himself.

Heero would know. If I remember right, they stuck together after that for a while on Earth. It wasn't until I ran into Q again later in space that I heard anything about it beyond what the news reports shoved down our throats about Wing ZERO. And, after that first incident, I think Heero ended up with it.

[Talking about it was very seldom and very far between, so Duo wouldn't be surprised if no one had all the details of everything that happened to anyone during that war. Duo himself tended to just avoid the topic when possible. He didn't like thinking about it.]

Either way, he was back in space when I found him and told him about seeing Trowa back at the circus. [There might be a slightly jealous undertone there if anyone's paying enough attention.]
