[ Too bad no one invented smello-vision, or this transmission would be a whole lot more attention catching. Charlotte lets the camera pan over her kitchen table that is practically overladen with an assortment of pies: full size and cup, three-plum and pear with gruyere. Maybe she got some of Ned's stress baking or maybe prison life is just a little too boring today. ]

So... I think I went just a little bit overboard. I was supposed to bake some pies for a friend, but I guess she's not here anymore... at least, I haven't seen her around. [ A quiet thought to Dawn, one of her first friends and also the first to go. ] Either way, I have a lot more pie than I need.

Anyone want a slice? I'm in Apartment [ Number ] in Sector 4. I'll keep the door open — just follow the smell!

Yeah. [So full of sympathy!] I wish I could tell you that gets better.

But hey, if we're gonna get into topics like missing people I'm definitely gonna want some pie. Be there in five?

Sure thing! The door is open — just follow the smell, you can't miss it!

[And lo! In a few minutes there is a knock (to the rhythm of "Shave and a Haircut") on the open door and one Penelope Garcia enters.]

Good Lord, honey, I can smell this place down the road. I'm surprised you don't have a sugar-craving mob at the door!

[ She's putzing around the kitchen, moving cooling pies in a futile attempt to make space. ] I'm sure I have enough to feed them, should they come... I guess I went a little overboard.

So! Where would you like to start? What're you in the mood for?

There is no such thing as too much kissing or too many desserts, darling. [A bit of good natured scolding slash reassurance.] As far as I'm concerned, you're doing a public service. If I had a medal, I'd offer it to you.

Aaaaand I think I'll start with something fruity. Apple, blueberry, rhubarb? What do you recommend?

Rhubarb is good, if you like it tarty. Olive seemed to have a soft spot for that kind... every day she'd pick a pie that she'd love a little extra, but I swear rhubarb got most of the love.

Then it sounds perfect-o! [If there's a seat nearby, she'll just settle on into it; if not, leaning on the counter works.] Let me know when you want the favor returned. I make a mean vegetarian tapas bar.

[ The chairs are free! No pies on the chairs! The same can't be said about counterspace. ]

No need, I'm just happy they're not going to waste. Although... I wouldn't say no to dinner some day. As friends.

[The "as friends" throws her for exactly half a second before she smiles.] No worries honey, if I were hitting on you it would not be subtle. I'm still kind of hung up on one particular guy in any case. Too bad you can't meet him, he loves pie.

[ Believe it or not, she didn't intend for that to be... well, what Garcia thought it was! So easily interpreted as such tho. Oops. ]

Oh! Oh, I didn't... [ Laughing. ] Wow. I didn't mean it like that. And yeah, I would've liked to meet your guy. Actually, I'm pretty sure you would like the guy I'm hung up on. He's a piemaker.

Seriously?! I guess that fits. [It's both adorable and delicious! Who could argue?] Is that where you learned to hone your pie-fu, or was that a pre-pieman skill set?

Oh, I've known how to bake pie a long time. My aunts taught me. [ They're also responsible for the habit of baking cheese and honey into the thing. ] Ned just... I guess he elevated what I already knew into a new, better level. They do say the secret ingredient in a good pie is love.

Homeopathy works just as well though.

The secret to a lot of things is love, if you ask me. It may sound very weird but that's why I'm so great with my hacking, because I love it.

I can't really share it with people like you can do with pie, sadly. My team appreciates it, but it'd be nice if I could do something awesome around here. [Like send everyone back to their worlds and loved ones.]

Hacking... that's computers, right? I don't know that much about them, but couldn't you create a game or something? Heaven knows we have way too much time on our hands around here.

[ Evidence A: pie mountain. ]

Got it in one! Computers and code and all things virtual. And yeah I could whip up a game or something, but really most of my free time has been spent trying to figure out a chink in this place's armor. Not easy, and I'm no slouch in this department. Honestly, I probably could stand to spend more time on it, but it feels like beating my head against a wall in hopes of bringing it down. Not encouraging, nor conducive to a good state of mind.

Maybe that's the problem. You're focusing so much on the problem that you can't find a solution! All work and no play, you know... Ned used to do that all the time and stress himself out until he couldn't even remember his name.

Maybe you should take a step back and do something else for a while?
