Day 243 // video ; action - sector 3 ; voice - private
[ Hello Marina! Is that the sun - the actual sun, somehow managing to penetrate miles and miles of harsh, unforgiving ocean? Is it a spotlight streaming down on the source of some incredible drama?

No, it's a young 'man' in a motorcycle helmet, lounging against a Vespa to make 'his' first-ever network broadcast. Hold onto your hearts. ]

Yo. Is there a mechanic in the house?

[ On second thought, maybe she better remove her headgear. Tossing her bangs, Haruka takes the helmet off - her hair flows; the air glitters. Apparently unaware of this nonsense, she fixes the camera with a brilliant, slightly mischievous smile. ]

I've got a little project.

[ Alternatively, you can find Haruka puttering around on her new toy vehicle - or, if you're in the Pa-Ching Arcade, peering over your shoulder and watching you play. It doesn't matter what game you're a fan of; she's checking out your skills (and if you're a girl, probably checking you out, too). Just...not announcing her presence. Yet. ]

Voice; private to Michiru

I found the beach. Shall we cruise it?

Sector 4. Meet me by the gardens? If you catch on quick we can even grab a snack afterwards.

[ She doesn't plan on running over - or pilfering - anyone's hard work, but it's an open area for practice. ]

[Her only response to that suggestion is a vague "hmm" before she clicks off the feed. It's not far to the gardens from her place, and it's not hard to pick Haruka out with the vehicle, so she shows up in good time]

Hello.

[That's pretty much all, as she slides her hands into the pockets of her jeans-- which, she figured to be more suited to this than her more often than not skirts-- and focuses on the bike now that it's up close, almost unconsciously. She's not trying to be rude...]

[ Hi, neighbor. Not to worry, Haruka doesn't mind the bike taking center stage. She'll even step aside so you can assess it some more. ]

You can come closer. It doesn't bite.

[Congrats, she looks appropriately sheepish at that before she does step ahead]

So... it's completely dependent on the physical motions the driver makes? [It'd be too much to hope for something like a landship wouldn't it...]

[ Haruka doesn't quite follow, but nods anyway. ] It's got an engine in the back, here, but yeah. You control it with these.

[ She indicates the brakes, throttle, etc. on the handlebars. ] Twisting this makes it go. Pushing these make it stop. It's not that hard once you're used to it.

[Nodding absently as she absorbs the provided information, the vehicle quickly becoming her focus once more]

So it appears. Though, not being controlled by will directly does make it more susceptible to delay and accidents, I imagine, depending on a person's reaction times.

[She leans in to get a better, straight on view of the dash] And these gauges?

[ Not controlled by.....Well, that would explain why you're new to this kind of thing. Haruka taps a fingernail on each gauge as she mentions it, leaning over Tear to do so (and thereby getting all up in her personal space. Again.)

Her voice is level, however, as if she were just chatting in a totally normal position. ]

This one's the biggie. It tells you how fast you're going. Though you can't ignore this either, it's the fuel. [ She chuckles, indicating the literally smaller of the two. ] You're going nowhere fast if that hits empty.

[And she had sworn to be more cautious with you in person, too. The only visceral reaction this time is the slight squaring of her shoulders, though; she keeps her silence through the explanation until she pipes up]

What is the fuel? [Her voice comes out impressively impassive, so that and the fact that Haruka can't see her face hopefully gives off that she's more collected than she actually is at present, in such a... position]

[ If Haruka's noticed any reaction, she doesn't show it. ]

"Gasoline". Don't worry, I won't leave you stranded.

[ She winks. This offer is one part chivalry and one part should-have-double-checked-whether-the-bike-store-also-carries-gas-cans. ]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

omg so late I am so sorry orz

How considerate.

[A tad dryly. She's not really focused on being snarky, though; still darting her eyes about the body of the vehicle, and near the rear a bit. Spotting a circular, almost cut-out area somewhat like a flap, she thinks that's promising for her next question]

How do you supply it with fuel? [Is she right, is she even close]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

's okay i've been busy too

[ Haruka's about to deflect that one, thinking Tear's discovered her little oversight, but then she notices the way the girl's eyes are flicking about and catches on. ]

If you guessed this, you're right. [ She taps the gas cap and looks at Tear expectantly. That should be the basics...she thinks. ]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I know that state of being very well as you might tell

[Silent, internal accomplishment! No showing it, though.

That's... about all she figures to ask about, too; it's just a mechanical vehicle, after all, and though differing from her world's own, with seeing enough machines both here and there and the information she's obtained, she feels she's got most of the gist.

But that's up to her "teacher" to decide, in the end. So she tilts her head in clear askance on whether they're to call it a day with this, or push forward]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

not a problem~

[ Haruka watches her pupil for a moment, then steps back. Ultimately their pace is going to be set by Tear's comfort level, but if you ask her it's a crying shame to leave off by just looking at the vehicle. ]

How about it? Want to give it a spin?
