Day 243 -- Action -- Open: Library, Blood Shack, Horse Stables
[She's now been at the prison for eight days. Anna still isn't quite sure what to make of the whole situation, and considering she's normally a pro at adapting to new situations, that's saying something. It's a prison, but they're free to wander and explore, even though she hasn't done much of that. She's ventured out to the Blood Shack a couple of times, but that was more out of necessity than anything. And after spending most of her free time in her apartment, on the eighth day, Anna forces herself to leave her place.]

[That doesn't mean she's not on guard. Because she very much is. She's met a few friendly -- or seemingly friendly people here, but they also had no idea what Anna is. And she's not about to start admitting that now. She might be in prison, but she's alive. Or as alive as a vampire can be. She didn't use to live this way -- every single action and interaction based wholly on her own fears. But after what happened to her mother, after what happened to her, Anna isn't about to let her guard down willingly. There's a very small percentage of the population here at Marina Nova that knows her secret -- the Mystic Falls population. And she intends on avoiding them as much as possible. She'd made contact with most of them when she first arrived -- rather, they'd made contact with her. She'd even had civil conversations with most of them. But she also doesn't want to tempt fate.]

[Truthfully, Anna is tired of spending so much time alone. It reminds her of just a few days ago when she was that way forcibly because she was a ghost. She makes her way to the library, planning to swing by the Blood Shack later, and maybe also the horse stables. It's been a very long time since Anna's been around horses, but she's always loved them. She wouldn't mind going for a ride, or even watching other people ride. It beats sitting alone in her place all day.]

[It wasn't long ago that Zelgadis hated the horse stables. Not because he dislikes animals, but because when you're made of stone and wire instead of flesh and hair, animals tend to freak out around you. And if there's one thing he doesn't like, it's being reminded how different he is.]

[Saber had changed his mind about it all. Like she did almost everything. Since she left, Zelgadis has been here every few days, just letting the horses get used to his strange presence and remembering how when Saber rode, she looked so happy and free.]

[His mask and hood are off as he feeds one of the mares a sugar lump, showing his slate-grey stone skin and shining, wire hair to anyone who happens in. Obviously, he's not expecting anyone.]

[She doesn't notice him at first as she hesitates in the entrance of the stables. She's still fighting with her urge to turn and go back to her room. But self-induced isolation will not lead to good things, so she takes a deep breath and steps inside.]

[That's when she notices him, though she doesn't stare despite how different he looks. After all, she wouldn't want someone to stare at her because she was a vampire. It just wasn't polite.]

[She slowly makes her way up to the stall beside him, watching the horse in front of her carefully because she didn't want to scare her.]

Do you know her name?

[Only his keen awareness of how easily the horses startle when a creature like him gets jumpy keeps him from overreacting entirely to a person's sudden appearance. Zelgadis strokes the mare's nose and slowly lifts a cloth mask to cover the lower half of his face as he answers.]

No, I never learned it. They didn't really like me very much until recently. [For what he assumes are obvious reasons.]

[He doesn't do this as often as he used to do, but occasionally you'll find him here. In the stables. Sleeping. In the hay with the horses.

Your presence can't really be hidden from this guy, and as so he wakes up almost as soon as you enter the stables. He's curious on what vampire would enter. Not many of them spend time here. Mostly out of habit, he thinks.

She picked the wrong place to try to avoid people who know who she is-because she just walked into the favorite place of the one person in the facility with an internal vampire GPS system. This vampire hunter is the reason horses were added to the facility in the first place.]

Your kind doesn't come visit here often.

It was, after all, a self-proclaimed vampire hunter who staked her at home. She's tense, sizing him up. If her powers are tamped down here, she bets that his are, too.]

[But Anna's smart enough to know that doesn't mean he's harmless. John Gilbert had no powers either, but with the help of a magic device, he'd been able to best the entire vampire population in Mystic Falls in one fell swoop.]

Their loss, I suppose.

Horses don't normally like vampires.

[Honest and blunt. But Zero isn't self-proclaimed--it's in the blood. And the potentency of Zero's hunter blood is unparalleled in his world even without the additions of everything that has been done to him.

Some worlds have a dagger dipped in the ash of a special tree to kill those special vampires who won't die by any other means. Back home, that special weapon is named-Zero.]

So most of them just don't go near them. Things are different here though. You should be able to ride one if you want.

Were you able to interact with them back home like you are now?

[Just curious as he didn't get into horses until he'd been turned. It was something of an experiment the Headmaster had put into place. The horse was an abandoned foal that Zero was put in charge of at age twelve to help him heal. White Lily is referred to as the demon horse from hell by his classmates and hates everyone BUT Zero.]

The ones here are specially designed for anyone here to be able to ride them.
