Day 240 - Cooking class 2.0! NOW WITH ORGANIZED THREADS!
[Today is the first day of Lelouch's Cooking and Baking class! Yaaaaay.

As characters enter the cooking labs, they'll find each station fully equipped with stuff that look brand-spanking-new. Also of note are the fact that each slot in the butcher blocks are numbered, and the fridges in each section are stocked with fruit and a few odd dairy products. Just what they'll need for todays lesson: Fruit Parfaits with some decorative garnishes.]

Welcome, I am Lelouch, and I have decided that I am going to be teaching some cooking classes here. I've been cooking for myself and my sister since I was 10, and while I have had little formal training, I'm going to be showing you what's considered best practice in a professional arrangement where I come from.

Most of what we'll be making will come from most versions of Earth. If you have something you know of from home, we may be able to try it at some date in the future once I am able to obtain whatver the crucial ingredients are.

I'm going to start this class at a rather basic level, so I will not be leaving anyone behind. If you're looking for more of a challenge than this, let me know and I'll do something else for you.

If I'm going to go to all this trouble, there's going to be some rules. The most important one is that if I'm going to give a dome full of criminals access to knives, they will be treated with care and no one will leave this room until every single one of them are accounted for. If you must hurt someone, don't make me responsible for providing the weapon. You will regret that decision. [His face grows more grave during these last couple points, but then settles back into something approaching friendly once he moves on.]

Further, the most important thing is to be safe. Take your time, and try not to get too far ahead of yourself.

[And then ever the showman he spins the chalkboard around, and on it are three different recipes. One berry parfait, one apple cinnamon with (premade) caramel, and one with citrus and some other more exotic fruits.] We'll be starting with fruit parfaits. These will require some knife work, and some basic terms and equipment. If you feel like challenging yourselves, I encourage you to try some of the fruit garnishes I have on my table. Pair off, read through the information you've been given, and I'll be around to help.

((OOC: Each pair of characters will have a stack of papers each with some basic terminology explained and some helpful clipart illustrating some of the harder to succinctly describe terms. There's also a pictorial guide to knife types and sizes and their use, as well as paper copies of each of the recipes, along with suggested layering. He's actually taking this fairly seriously.))

Of course not. That doesn't make it less true. [He's not nervous, per se. He has every confidence this will do well. But he may have sacrificed some sleep for it.]

[That just earns more smiling from his sister.] I'm glad to be here and I promise I'll do my very best to make you proud and as little frustrated as possible.

[He shakes his head as though to dismiss her second point.] You could never do that. I'm sure you've learned quite a bit.[Well, maybe she did once...]

Never? I'm sure there must have been a couple of times. [You did try to shoot her at least once. Let's not speak of the actual shooting.]

Perhaps. But that was a long time ago. [Of course not. May as well have never happened.]

[On the plus side, the shooting and resulting death are the least traumatizing parts of that day? Well, maybe not least but there is some overshadowing. Not to mention she doesn't remember being shot. That part hasn't happened yet. She only knows about it. That's different from living it. Knowing about the massacre was so different than remembering it.

But for right now, her mind is just on the present and she smiles for her brother and teacher.]

I'm just glad to have another chance even if that's not a goal of mine. [It's good to have you here, bro.]

Of course. [Same here, sis. Until the next crisis anyway.

He may be helping her along a little bit.]
Speaking of a long time ago, these berries are almost as good as they were at Aries.

I think I remember everything from those days a little sweeter. [She picks up a strawberry and nibbles.] Mmm, but you're right.

[He joins in, because what is actually leading the class? I do too. Though that may be the company I was with.

[And now they are short one Nunnally. Bittersweet, unlike the berries.] Oh? Who would that have been? [Teasing a bit.]

[As well as Cornelia, of course. Though as things were, her presence may not be so sweet.] I believe it's the same as who is sweetening them right now.

[Sweet or not, Euphie would love to see her again. She smiles, but then it brings to mind a real class-related question.] Should I be adding sugar?

Oh, I see! Did I tell you about the time Gino and I tried to make cookies? [Or that Gino had been here at all for that matter.]

[He does her the favor of keeping his thoughts on Gino off of his face.] I didn't know he had been here. What happened?

That day? We got flour all over the shelter's kitchen and had no idea what T-S-P meant. [This smile as she thinks back is a very warm one.]

Not that time, but I have done that. [She smiles, not even looking too embarrassed. I don't think we really made anything worth eating, but there certainly was a mess.]
