[ With Pepper the puppy in tow, Caroline makes her way to Stefan's place. After the most awkward group therapy, she kind of just wants a break, honestly. Therapy can do that to you, give you clarity, make you realize what you want or what, really, you need. Because while her mind still aches thinking about how complicated everything is, she's pretty sure of what her heart needs, what it wants now, even if it's selfish.

Standing at his door, she takes in a breath before knocking, glancing down at Pepper and hoping that Stefan's home. Normally, she'd bring a bottle of something or maybe some food, but right now, she feels to anxious to eat and well, drinking is probably not the best idea considering the black wrist band on her arm and the one that matches it on his.]

[No amount of spiked food would help the awful that was group therapy day, Stefan was pretty sure most of the people in the prison would agree with him on that one. If anything it only made it worse, because words didn't want to seem to stay in his mouth where they belongs.

But a knock on his door is a welcome surprise, especially when he opens it and sees her standing there, puppy in hand. (His goldfish, by the way, is surviving just fine. So far.)]

Hey.

[He greets her with a surprised but happy smile, having not really expected to see her today, given the 'festivities.']

[ Her smile widens a bit more when he presses a kiss to her cheek.] Well, it's the truer one. [ She moves into his apartment, glancing around as she always tends to do before she sets Pepper down. She, of course, just sits down at Caroline's feet despite the fact they're still by the door mostly.] I kinda wore her out on the way here. [ She glances up at Stefan before she moves towards him, stepping over Pepper, so she can hug him.]

I really wanted to see you. Today sucked, right? [ That has to mean something. That she wants to see him when things are bad. And when things are good.]

[He lets the door close behind her, glad for not the first time that he has continued to decide to live alone. He got enough side comments from Damon about this without him being around to hear their conversations.

His arms slip around her easily as she moves to hug him, and he squeezes a bit tighter than normal. Because she's absolutely right.]

More than expected, and that's saying something. I'm glad you came.

[Because now it sucks just a little bit less.]

	I had to go to two. Family Issues and Supernatural Creature Rehabilitation. [Yeah, worst day ever. And Caroline would know exactly why in both instances. Both? [ She frowns, realizing that she got lucky with having only to go to one.] Relationship Issues. [ She lets out a short, bitter laugh, scoffing a bit at herself and the ridiculousness of this place.] Go figure, right? Here I thought my relationships were perfect. [ She sets her forehead to his, closing her eyes.]

Did they make you stand up and say you were a bloodaholic or something?

I'm pretty sure if they could have sent me to three, I would have ended up there next.

[Because neither of them are exactly the best at navigating relationships, clearly. But it feels right now, and that's what's important. Like things might actually be falling into place.]

And talk about what it felt like to murder my father. Maybe if we just...go to sleep or something, we'll wake up and today won't have happened at all.

He releases her hand as they move into the room so that he can pull off his shirt over his head before he pulls back the heavy comforter and slides into the bed, reaching over for her so that she can join them. [ But the puppy is so cute, Stefan. Although, Stefan without a shirt on is kind of distracting and she watches him for a moment before she toes off her shoes and slips out of her jacket, slinging it on the chair. She hesitates for a moment before she goes for her jeans and shimmies them off too.

Naps in jeans are uncomfortable, okay?

She moves to pick up Pepper and deposit her on the end of the bed (yeah, she's not asking permission), where Pepper just plops down, tired. Finally, Caroline climbs under the covers, slipping in close, next to him.]

[The puppy is cute, but so are other small woodland creatures and he's used to eating them so...let's just leave it at that.

He'd be pulling off his jeans too, if he weren't already in pajama pants. He figured he might as well be comfortable between awful therapy sessions, right?

He feels the weight of the small puppy settle at the edge of the bed, but doesn't particularly mind, more concerned with the blonde as she slipped in beside him, his arm slipping around her shoulders as he pulled her closer and relaxed against her far more comfortably than he had when he'd been alone.]

[ it was hard not to feel a little like Katherine as she lays in bed with Stefan knowing that Tyler was out there hurting because of it. But the difference was that Caroline felt awful about it whereas Katherine would not. [And that was exactly it. Katherine only cared about herself, had been that way for a long time. Maybe it was a product of circumstance, of being on the run for so long, but Stefan doubted it was that entirely. Caroline cared too much about other people to ever become that.

Her words catch him by surprise, though his expression is by no means unhappy about the question.]

[ She lets her fingers trace a little squiggle along his shoulder.] It's getting a little frustrating, if you know what I mean. [ Her eyes lift to meet with his, her expression suggestive.

But it's so much more than that, she knows he knows that, it's in her smile when she sees him, the way she comes to him when she worries or when something exciting happens. It's not just sex or the need for something physical to keep you sane. It's frustrating because she wants to be close and maybe she wants to somehow prove that this, this thing between them, is worth it, that it means something. That hurting Tyler won't be in vain.]

[The words said against her lips as he leans in to kiss her. He's sick of having to be careful, of watching what he does, just as before he'd been sick of having to watch what he'd say in case it hurt someone's feelings. Not that he would go out of his way, because he didn't want to upset Caroline, but he just wanted to be able to act on how he felt instead of waiting.

He'd done enough of that in his life.]

[ The elation she feels goes through her like a wave of heat, her whole body feeling as if it might spring back to life, like her heart might start beating, beating right out of her chest. She hums softly against his lips, pulling him closer, kissing him until her body starts to react.

Of course, instead of pulling him on top of her, she feels the most unpleasant jolt, a shock that makes her pull back with a pained gasp. Her eyes clench shut as she curses softly, her hand moving to grip just below her wrist where that black band resides. She sucks in a breath through clenched teeth--] Dammit.

He sucks in a pained breath through his teeth as they are forced to jerk away from one another, and after hearing her swear beside him, he can't quite hold back the touch of laughter that bubbles up in his chest.]
