[When the feed clicks on it shows Bonnie sitting down at a table, a steaming cup of coffee in front of her. There's also a few pastries on a plate next to it.]

Today marks my first month here. I don't think it's something you particularly celebrate but if I had to celebrate anything, it would be the friends I have in this place. Both the ones from home and the people I've befriended in prison. I think that deserves some acknowledgment so if anyone wants to talk about the good things, come down to the bean crushers coffee place. I'll be there for the afternoon.

That's about it.

Thanks.

Yeah, I know. When I first arrived, I was so determined to find a way out for everyone and return home but I've come up with nothing. Maybe I shouldn't stress about it so much anymore and just enjoy the time I have here. Learn from the bad experiences and move forward.

[ helen has given her a lot to think about and bonnie is grateful, knowing that it was sound advice. she still wants to go home but all she can do is bide her time. ]

Did you grow into that way of thinking or have you always believed it?

I grew into it. [ she gives a soft sigh at that. ] I'm not one to sit idly by when there's something to be done and this certainly counts as something that needs to be done. But I've also come to learn that this isn't a life-or-death situation I'd normally be faced with, so I can't approach it in the same way I would were I at home. Thus... [ she gives a gentle shrug. ] I suppose I've come to accept that there's more to be done here than I expected.

If you can make a difference here then that can only be a good thing. The wardens are always going on about how we're supposed to become better people or whatever- so maybe we can all play a part in making things easy for everyone, considering the circumstances.

I'm Bonnie by the way. Bonnie Bennett.

You'd think making a difference here would impress them. [ don't mind her. she's just not impressed by these guys. ]

Dr. Helen Magnus. It's a pleasure to meet you, Bonnie.

I know, right? Guess they're just picky like that. [ neither is bonnie. she doesn't mind at all.]

It's nice to meet you, Doctor Magnus. How long have you been here for?

And they say we're full of cock-and-bull. [ honestly, helen has so many feelings about all of this, she's likely to burst someday. ]

18 days, actually. Not very long, given the day count, but long enough to have an idea of things.

It's been 30 days for me. Took me about half of that time to get used to how things work here.

Even then I think it can still surprise you.

It does take some time to adjust to being in a prison and what you can and can't do here. A routine isn't easy to build up.

Absolutely, unfortunately, but I suppose that's what keeps it interesting at times.

Interesting. Possibly dangerous. There's loads of words you can use to describe it.

[But she's not going to list them all.]

All the more reason for me to remain positive, right?

Those tend to go together in my experience.

[ just another day at the office to her. ]

Absolutely. It certainly can't hurt and might just make your stay more enjoyable.
