[Day 236] Video/Action/OTA
[It's really only through luck that everything is steady and not like being moved up and down or side to side with his fiddling of the earpiece, but after the incident that was Helen and her weird future communications device he's learned not to mess too much with things. Well, sorta kinda ish, at least he hasn't messed with the thing on his leg.

But the video turns on to one bearded English gentleman standing in front of a weeping willow and he's standing rather steady-ish as he talks because he's not sure how these things work and if jostling it will do something weird to it.
]

Last I checked removing a gentleman's clothes and hat was exceptionally rude and not really the best way to insure he is willing to stay in your attempt at a prison. [If he doesn't sound all that pleased, well he's not. At least for a brief moment before he sighs and brushes his hair down.]

But I suppose not everyone has Scotland Yard's sensibilities when it comes to the well fare of it's prisoners nor it's taste in what to give them to wear. Even Lestrade is kinder and I have yet to meet someone as rude as he can be in his line of work. [He pauses to do what amounts to a huff before fixing his hair again because he lacks a proper jacket to mess with and really how rude can you people get giving him a bright orange jumpsuit without a jacket.]

But be that as it may, I suppose I should ask if there is anyone here by the name of Helen, with a similar accent to my own. Blond or brunette, I know two women that share the name and accent and I wouldn't mind speaking to either nor to anyone that knows of them. Or someone who happens to know a different woman from my Helen's [It really sounds weird to say that.] we can discuss similar traits in such ladies if you prefer.

[Okay so that's not the best way to go about introducing himself to people but he doesn't really care especially as he totally forgot to actually introduce himself whoops. This is all said by the way, from Sector 3 where he's been wandering about before settling in near the weeping willow if anyone feels up to poking him there.]

[Gotta give the man points for trying.

But now he's just going to cough and tug out the shirt in that bag now to stare at it, avoiding her eyes. Again he's not sure how to take that because things and feelings, but he does like Picard so maybe he can give the man a chance. After he gets over his worrying ways of course.
]

Perhaps so, Helen. Though I'm not sure if I should be taking that as an insult to the man or a compliment to our friendship that you'd speak so highly. I'm not exactly the best of men to be comparing someone to.

[ give her a minute. how many ways can she hint that they've had a long and wonderful courtship without breaking his heart even more. ]

You've been the best friend I could ever have wanted and more.

[ dear god feelings. too many feelings and emotions and worries lately. so instead of letting either of them worry too much, she gently tugs the shirt out of his hands, tosses it into the bag, and casually reaches up to hug him. she's missed him more than words could say and having him back again is reopening a wound she'd thought had been closed three years ago. ]

[He's rather certain he knows what she meant by that, but a part of him doesn't want to believe it. Believe that it's real and that they were a thing, that perhaps he doesn't have to wait so long back home but it's difficult to believe something like that when the last time he had such hope it got dashed by a friend turning into a cold blooded killer. So he's just going to pretend that maybe she means something else to save his heart just in case he's wrong. He'd rather not take this the wrong way at all.

So he'll just let her hug him, hugging her tighter than the last time they saw one another. This Helen can give him so much information about the future that he's slightly afraid to ask, so instead he'll settle for teasing and little hints because otherwise he's going to be hit with so many feelings that he's not sure how to handle.
]

I'm gladdened to hear that I don't become an annoyance in what I can only presume is my advanced age. [That's a bit of teasing at himself, but he just hopes she gets that he's thankful for that.]

[ someday she will drop more hints about the two of them, though she'll draw the line at scandalizing them both. for now, she just holds him close, allowing the best friend she's ever had (before rebekah here) to hug her as only one other person here has so far. ]

You? An annoyance? Honestly, James, if I hadn't given up on you after Oxford, I certainly won't in your future.

[ it's a bit of good-natured teasing and she finally pulls back to give him a teasing smirk. ]

Speaking of annoying, the jumpsuit has to be just that. Shall I take you somewhere so you can change?

[Well that's always a good line for them really. But he is going to take advantage of that hug, because this is a very weird situation and she's the only familiar face here for him.]

I wouldn't say that, I think I'd have rather earned some annoyances with my habits in your house. But it's good to know I don't scare you off to quickly.

[But the teasing is appreciated and he gives her a smirk in return, smoothing out his jumpsuit out of habit.]

That would be nice yes, otherwise I think I'll be uncomfortable the entire time until I can get myself a new suit.

I should think you and I both would have earned annoyances towards each other, but even so, you could hardly frighten me off. I always enjoy your company. [ always had, always would. really, it feels as though she's gotten another chance, -- a third chance? -- with him here and she isn't about to waste it. ]

This way, then. I'll take you to the clinic, as it's closer.

[ she turns in the direction of the building, which isn't too far away, and motions for him to follow her. ]
