[236] action; open
[devil's compass]

[Old soul or new maybe today's the day you wander into the Devil's Compass, an old-fashioned bar in Sector four. In fact the door's propped open late into the afternoon, before it shuts again with the oncoming rain and traps in the smoky atmosphere. Behind the bar for the most part of the day will be Tyki Mikk himself, a tall and dark haired man in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled back and a well fit but unbuttoned vest. He's tending to the bar with a rag, occasionally moving over to sort out an arrangement of bottles. Quite at home.]

[prayer facility]

[Sometime into the evening a faint tune is floating out of the non-denominational prayer facility in Sector five. If you care to wander in you would see Tyki sitting by the piano, playing it with lazy ease and a briefly bowed head in concentration. He's not wrapped up in the music so much as he is in trying to remember the keys, occasionally slipping and restarting sections or playing through the flaws. Practiced but not perfect, his fingers fly by on the faster sections and linger on the slower.

It'll take him a moment to realize anyone's watching. Didn't think he'd be found here of all places.]

What sort of thing kept you busy at home? [She is ready to fix your problem.]

[Women, murder, destruction, you know. The good stuff.]

Work, mostly. And travel.

I suppose traveling from one sector to another isn't quite the same. But you do have work here, don't you? Your establishment?

Mm. Not exactly the same kind of work.

[And before you think murderer,] I used to work mines, work sites, more labor intensive than cleaning off a bartop.

[She wasn't going to think that!] I suppose that is quite a bit different. You liked it? It sounds hard.

Ah, but that's just the thing.

Nothing like the way it feels to sink into bed after a long day of work.

Maybe there are things like that you could do here. Did you try asking the wardens?

[He simply shakes his head.] It's not the same.

And I won't earn a wage, not in any worthy manner. [Hard earned money will forever top 'rehabilitation points'.]

Do you want a wage even in a place that doesn't require anything from you for what we need?

That's what makes life around here stale, love.

Everything's free and fine to do. No goals to make, money to save or jobs to do.

You could earn and save rehabilitation points if there is something you want from home. Or maybe something you want to give as a gift for someone else? Something they couldn't just find in a store here.
