[There's definitely some aspects of the hero gig that Wally missed since he decided to retire and give the normal life a try. But finding himself in strange places with no idea how he got there certainly wasn't one of them. Especially when that strange place happened to be some sort of underwater dome. And while he missed out on the normal welcoming message that usually greeted new arrivals, he quickly gathered that this was some type of holding facility thanks to the orange jumpsuit and power suppressing anklet he's been fitted with.

At first he thought that all of this might've been the work of either The Reach or The Light, but the more he explored the place, the less likely he thought that to be the case. Neither one of them would have been so kind to dump him in a place this nice. So figuring there's only one way for him to get any real answers, he uses the communicator he's been given to send out a voice message on the network. And for some people in Marina, his voice might sound very similar to someone else's they already know in the dome, if only a little deeper.]

Well I must say that this is quite the dome you guys have here. I mean, I'm sure the prisoners at Belle Reve would kill to have a beach, an arcade, or even a...Plush Rump of their very own.

But who exactly do I have to thank for my impromptu underwater vacation? It's not that I don't appreciate it, but I was kind of in the middle of something important back home. [Helping stop alien invasions still count as being important, right?] Though I'm guessin' I'm hardly the first one here to make that claim, huh?

[Sigh. This really wasn't the "welcome back" he was looking for after temporarily rejoining the team.] Man, Artemis is so going to kill me for this.

[He was hoping she didn't notice his little slip up, but of course she did. She's Artemis. And she wouldn't be Artemis if she didn't also call him out on it, and well, how is he suppose to answer that?]

[He awkwardly rubs the back of his head with a hand.] Just a force of habit, I guess. [He decides that honesty was the best policy, but don't expect him to explain why it's a habit of his.]

What's the last thing you remember from back home? [He's guessing it's something from right around the time they got together over five years ago based on her appearance and reaction to things.]

[She's going to have to give him a moment as he was taken aback by those air quotes and that wave of information. When he finally does process everything she just said, he can see why her run-ins with Cassie and possibly a Robin not named Dick could be problematic for her, depending on when they showed up (are they here now?) and what they remembered from home. They (if the Robin was Tim) had spent nearly three months thinking Artemis was dead after all.

But he doesn't want to assume anything, so he'll offer her a compromise until he's sure this is about what he thinks it is.] Okay, how about this. You tell me what you know first and then I'll fill in the blanks as best I can. That sounds fair, right?

[Even though he knew it was going to be something like that, he's still surprised by just how long ago that was and it shows on his face.]

Wow. That's even before we-- [He cuts himself off with a clearing of his throat, thinking he should probably hold off on telling her what it is they did.] Last thing I knew it was June 19th, 2016. [No future specifics yet, but it lets her know how much time has past for him.]

So, you said something about meeting Wondergirl and one of the Robins that isn't the one you know? [Hey, she can't really expect him to fill in 5+ years of blanks.]

Yeah, well...

The first day I showed up was a day like this when everyone was popping up out of nowhere. This other Robin guy and Wondergirl both got pretty emotional when they saw me. But I guess they were from after you. [Because otherwise so would he, right?]

[He nods as he follows along with what she says and while it didn't exactly confirm anything, it does allow him to make some educated guesses about things. Like the Robin in question was most likely Tim. And there's only one reason he can think of for why they'd get "pretty emotional" after seeing her. But he's still going to be cautious since he doesn't want to reveal anything unless he has to, though he knows she's going to absolutely hate that he's beating around the bush.]

Do you know why they got so emotional when they saw you? [He imagines Tim would be pretty tight-lipped when it came to details, but from what he's heard about Cassie, maybe not so much.]

[Well that wasn't as informative as he was hoping for, but she did admit that she knew why they reacted the way they did to her. And if it's the same reason he's thinking it is, then that's some pretty heavy stuff she's been carrying around with her. So that's why he chooses to be a little more forthcoming while still attempting to keep things as vague as possible. Which is quite the juggling act to be sure.]

Look, if they came from an earlier time than I did, then there's something they might have told you that they thought was true but isn't. [Through no fault of their own of course. It was Kaldur and Dick that came up with the plan to fake her death and she eagerly went along with it despite his own misgivings about the whole thing.] Something that's pretty big.

[He forces a small smile and tries to keep his tone light, but there's definitely some concern laced in it.] So do you think you might want to tell me now?

[Her heart beats just a little harder in her chest and she really hopes he can't tell somehow. Something big they might have told her that wasn't true? This is as big as it gets...]

They said Kaldur killed me. [Her eyes are very much on him, watching to see how he reacts to that. She knows how she's been reacting to it ever since she got here. It's like a weight she's been living under.]

That's...that's not true. [And he figures if her meeting Tim and Cassie, and them telling her that hasn't already messed up the time-stream, then it'd be okay to explain things with actual details.] It was all part of a mission to stop Vandal Savage and his crazy friends. You had to go undercover and well, you should be able to figure out the rest. [No stronger cover than them and everyone else thinking your dead.]

Besides, we both know you'd totally take Kaldur down in a real fight. [Yeah, he might just be her biggest fan.]

[Laughing was so not a thing she was expecting in this conversation. She bristles for a moment, but she doesn't maintain it as he continues his explanation. She'd also like it to have more words, and she might have told him so if it weren't for the last bit which tugs her lips into a smile before she can stop it. Everyone else said Kaldur would never do that—something she wanted to agree with too.]

Maybe you have a point.

[She looks up at him, smile still trying to stay on those lips as this really starts to sink in.] So all this time I've been...

I'm not going to die when I get home? [There are so many emotions to feel right now.]

Nah, you're good. [After a beat:] Though I can only actually guarantee you'll be fine up to June 19th 2016. After that, it's anyone's guess. [Though he doesn't think it'll be any time soon. They just need to wrap up the the alien invasion and it's back into retirement for them. ~~Or so he thought.~~]

Let's...just say you and I end up getting along pretty well and leave it at that. [Well enough that him calling her babe is a habit of his and she allows him to do it. Not to mention he said she would kill him for getting stuck here. So maybe he did reveal more than he had meant to.]
