Day 241 | Video | Action--Open Mingle
[There is a very tall, pale, blonde man on the screen. He's wearing dark clothes and his blonde hair is slicked back. He gives the camera a charming smile. ]

I understand we're to be inundated with visitors today. I also understand that a sudden arrival here can be a disconcerting and that often requires a drink. I invite everyone to come have a drink at the Blood Shack in sector four. We've got a wide variety of drinks, both ordinary and unusual.

Come spend your day with us at the Blood Shack. We'd be delighted to have you.

[ The video clicks off.

Those that decide to take Eric up on his invitation, will find the Blood Shack up and running. During the day, a few bots can be found doing some of the mundane things like delivering drinks to tables, but during the evening Eric will be behind the bar and the presence of bots is reduced. The bar itself is dimly lit with small tables and booths places about. There's a dance floor and a stage with a pole at one end. The other end of the stage is occupied by what can only be called a throne, which Eric occupies when Spike is behind the bar. There is also a jukebox that customers can play. ]

[ooc: feel free to use this as an open mingle. I've turned off comments so if you want to speak directly to Eric, comment there.]

She yelps, both at being grabbed without warning and because she's pulled out into the sun. It doesn't burn, but that doesn't stop her from squirming in his grasp, not wanting to meet the sun as her father said all vampires one day would. She was already dead, but she didn't want to die. Her new life had barely begun, and she'd already spent most of it locked away in what was essentially a vampire concentration camp. She was supposed to have forever, to have freedom -- not a number on her chest and an overprotective parent who wanted to fix her, because she was broken.

Wrong. Dead. Gone. Not Willa anymore, or so the story goes.

"Hey, I--" Whatever that might've been, statement or question, doesn't get a chance to make it out all the way as she's dumped unceremoniously onto a bed that's soft and bounces under her weight, instead of the cold, hard cots they have available for them at the camp. Like vampires don't like sleeping in comfort, just like humans do. "Eric?"

Nora. Where is she? Why isn't she with him? None of this is making any sense.

"Is that supposed to be a trick question? Because I am so not in the mood for games. What the hell is going on here?"

Willa, unfortunately, has a very confused viking vampire on her hands. Clearly she knows him, which if he's just going on gut feelings, he would assume she knows him very well.

"You've been sentenced to prison. However, it's incredibly likely that it's temporary for you. They're able to take people from different time periods." Which he would guess is what is happening here.

"And I'm going to take a wild guess that you're from my future as I've been here several months and up until this moment, I would have said the only vampire I have ever made was Pam, so you're going to have to bear with me and I do apologize," he actually sounds sincere about that, 'but who the fuck are you?"

She drops the severed arm in his lap in favor of dropping her head into her own lap, hands in her hair as she tries to get a grip on herself and this situation. It doesn't make sense, shouldn't be possible, yet ever fiber of her being is telling her to listen to her maker, that he wouldn't lie to her, that his word is truth even when it seems like nothing more than an elaborate lie.

Even when he apparently has no idea who she is, and that hurts more than it should. More than she expected anything to.

"Willa," she answers after a moment, lifting her head back up and wiping away the bloody tears from her face. God, she hates crying while dead. It's so messy and gross and all you succeed in doing is smearing blood all over your face when you try and wipe the tears away with your hands. She will never complain about human tears having made her mascara run again. "Willa Burrell. You're my maker."

Eric crouches in front of Willa to listen to her explanation. He watches her expression, her body language and knows that even if she wanted to lie to him, she really couldn't. At least not very well.

"Shhh," he responds, reaching up to wipe tears off her cheek with the pad of his thumb. "I know that. I simply needed to know your name."

He also knows that she's the governor's daughter, but he doesn't think this is the time to mention that.

"You're going to be fine here, Willa."

Somehow, her maker's touch is enough to sooth her, to quell her fears and halt her tears. Must be something that's built in to newborns, she realizes, something they would've been interested in studying if the weren't so keen on making her maker suffer. If anything, should her father ever be thrown off the project or decide Willa was really, truly gone, she'd be used against him, too. Pam as well, if she fell out of favor with her fan in the psych department. They were all just fodder, waiting to be used in one way or another.

"Are you sure about that? The last prison I was in wasn't exactly what I'd call accommodating or kind."

It's not something Eric has ever questioned, but Willa might have a point. It could be something built into newborns. That wasn't how Eric had intended things to go when he made Willa. He thought that the governor would react the way a father would have, the way Eric himself would have reacted had it been his human children or his vampire child. He thought that the governor would change his stance on vampires when he had to deal with his daughter being one of them. Eric liked Willa. She had impressed him as a human, but he probably would not have made her if he had known how the governor would actually react. No matter now. He had made Willa and he'd made a good decision despite the fact that it hadn't worked out the way he had thought it would.

He'd also give money to see Pam's reaction. He could guess what it was.

"I've been here for a few months now and I assure you, it's quite accommodating and reasonably kind."

"I wouldn't exactly call dropping a vampire out in the daylight kind."

Willa didn't get to see Pam's initial reaction, but had actually did pretty well against Pam in person. The 'sisters' aren't quarreling like one might've expected them to.

"The daylight doesn't burn here." He supposed he was a bit rash and hurried about getting her inside to find out who she was. "You can go out in it if you like. We do, however, still get the bleeds from being awake during the day an inordinate amount of time."

He's only awake right now because of the visitors and he'll pay for it later.

Willa perks up immediately. "I can? And I won't fry?"

She's dubious, yet trusting of his word all at the same time. Knowing him and not knowing him is like whiplash sometimes.

"You can, and you won't fry, but don't panic if you get the bleeds. I've got a place you can sleep."

He smiles a bit as he says it. He's forgotten what it's like having a new progeny It's...nice. Eric is far more of a dad than he will ever admit and he gets enjoyment out of doing 'dad' things.
