[ Buffy has a routine. She doesn't necessarily want a routine, but she's got one. It starts reasonably early in the morning.

[Morning--Sector 1--Athletic Complex]

Buffy jogs to the athletic complex dressed in a zipped hoody, tank and yoga shorts. She spends the next couple of hours going through tai chi movements, stretching and wailing on a punching bag and/or fighting dummy. Once she's worked all the restlessness that comes with being a slayer and nothing to slay out, she jogs back to her apartment. She can be interrupted on the way to the complex, during her workout or on her way back to her apartment.

[Mid Morning/Afternoon--Sector 4--Closed to Dawn]

Once she's showered, Buffy yells for Dawn. Yes, they live in the same two bedroom apartment, but that doesn't mean that yelling isn't necessary. It's a sister thing.

"Dawnie!! Breakfast is a thing we should go do."

They'd probably end up shopping as well. It was a common Summers bonding activity.

[Evening--Sector 4--Merlottes]

Evening finds Buffy doing something else routine. She's at Merlotte's waiting tables for the dinner shift. Feel free to have her wait on your table, catch her in between tables or at the bar. ]

Once they're seated, Dawn sets her bag on the floor by her chair. She picks up a menu and looks it over as if she doesn't already know what she's getting. "Hey, all of my habits are your habits. In fact, they were your habits first. So you can thank yourself for my habit since you were habiting before me and I merely learned by example. Color me innocent in all this t-shirt mess."

	Buffy does actually have to look at the menu. She's not entirely sure what she wants to eat, but she's thinking French toast. "Hey! I never went to the beach with my boyfriend so bikini wasn't an issue." Point. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Ordering from the breakfast bot gives Buffy a chance to come up with the answer to Dawn's question. Eventually, she figures she'll tell Dawn about Sam being a shapeshifter, but it's somet she wants to discuss with Sam first since it's his secret to tell. Fortunately for her, as far as she's aware, it doesn't have any bearing on the answer to Dawn's question.

"Breakable isn't so much the issue." And as far as Buffy knows, Sam's ability doesn't make him any more resilient. Whether it did or not, breakable wouldn't be the issue. "It has more to do with accepting that big strong man is never going to be stronger than short, little, blonde girl. Sam is okay with that."

"Boys don't like that you can kick their little behinds, huh?" It's nice. Cause Dawn is always doing the girl-talk thing and Buffy doesn't always share so much with her cause she has Willow and whoever else is around to share with. So it's cool to her that Buffy is talking with her now.

And she proceeds to order one of almost everything from the menu plus a big thing of syrup.

"Not so much. They like being the big, strong, manly men." At least in her experience. Of course, Angel hadn't minded and Spike liked it, but Riley hadn't. She had a feeling that Scott would have eventually had a problem with it. Owen...probably would have enjoyed it. And Ford, was just too messed up for her to even make a guess.

At least one of them was going to be sick to their stomach.

Dawn wrinkles her nose a bit, thinking about Peter trying to be the big strong manly man. She, of course, has no clue that he's spiderman yet. And he's too cute to be muscle guy like Angel or Riley or big bad with good potential like Spike, or even scrappy bartender guy like Sam. In fact, right now Dawn is pretty sure that in a tight spot, she has more evil slaying field time and ability than Peter does. And yet she doesn't see anything wrong with that.

"Maybe you just have a type. You know, guys who can take care of themselves kind of type. Except those guys usually come with a little bit of chivalrous ego, you know? Like they wanna be the door opener and the chair puller outter and the guy who saves you from other guys and gals being less than stellar to you."

Dawn has a very good point. However...

"In my world, a guy has to be able to take care of himself. It's a lose-lose situation," Buffy answers, twisting pursed lips to one side. "You were too young to remember him," read, not created yet and she didn't think it was significant enough for the monks to give her memories, "but I dated a boy named Owen in high school very briefly. He nearly got killed because he went on a date with me and couldn't take care of himself." Her brow furrows a moment. "He was also an adrenaline junkie, I think, which would have ended badly."

More thinking and a little bit of a smile. "I like that though. The whole door opening and chair pulling. I want to be treated like a girl, just not a girl who needs to be saved. Sam seems to sort of strike that balance. Not that there's needed to be any saving in any capacity here, which is maybe the difference, but I kinda think he'd be okay with it either way."

She hesitates a moment. "I should probably ask."

She didn't remember Owen at all. But there was a lot in Buffy's life that she wasn't privy to before Buffy and her had matured enough that she was just finally let in. It could also be a monk thing. There were some things that the monks hadn't known to alter or put into her memory bank.

"I didn't know about Owen." She smirks. "You were either super secretive or that one didn't get slipped into my fake memories."

"He was pretty early in the Sunnydale experiment. Before Angel even...well before I started dating Angel. He was like...Angel lite and in the end, kind of a footnote outside of convincing me that dating human boys wouldn't turn out well."

Honestly, it's only a connection she makes now in hindsight. She'd never intended to date vampires. She'd wanted to date Angel and she'd never call what she and Spike did dating.

"Riley was the anti-angel." Which Buffy had desperately needed when Angel had left Sunnydale and broke her heart. "Also the anti-parker AKA bad decisions I make in college."

Yeah, she's going to go ahead and tell Dawn about her bad decision. It's one of those things that Dawn is probably old enough to hear and needs to hear, as much as Buffy would like to keep her sister fourteen.

	"Everybody makes bad decisions in college." She concedes. Kenny and his best friend, much? Yep, she followed right in big sisters footsteps. But at least Peter seems normal, anti-drama, joe-shmo. Buffy shrugs and nods a bit because Dawn has a point. "That's what college is for, I think. "

Buffy really hopes that Peter is normal, anti-drama, joe-schmo for Dawn's sake. She'd rather her sister skip the Summer Love Drama gene. "Past bad decision Buffy would be good." She considers that a moment, watching Dawn.

"You'd be okay with that? Sam and me? 'Cause he wants that."
