Stefan... [ Her eyes open to look at his face, her voice barely a whisper.] It's better just to leave him alone, okay? [ She doesn't want Tyler or Stefan fighting, not when they're all in this together.]

He just... needs some time. And I need time figure out what to do about him. [ Because a part of her still pangs for him, loves him. But there's a loyalty to Stefan, one that's been there all along but now it's something much more intense.]

He deserves someone else, someone better than me. [ Not that Stefan didn't deserve someone great too.]

[He doesn't say anythign to that, because it's not something he can promise, just like when Damon hurt he. He wouldn't go looking for trouble, for her sake, but he wouldn't just sit and watch her be abused, either.

At the mention of time, though, he just reluctantly nods his head. Patience is not something he's always good at, not when it comes to things like this. And it's not the first time he's had to do it, either.

He shakes his head at the last part, frowning.]

No, he doesn't. He's not better than you, Caroline. Did he say that?

[Stefan always has something to feel guilty about. It's his shtick. But he doesn't say so, because guilt is something he tries to hide, bury deep, and forget about.

The last part is the one he's never managed to do.]

[He hates the way it sounds too, wishes he'd never had to say it, because the words ring in his ears and make his head hurt.

But her reply is more than he expected, and he knows how hard it is to get over someone. He's living it just as she is. But she was helping. She always did.

So black wristbands be damned, he moves in to kiss her, because as much as he claims Damon is the impulsive one, he's not immune. He'll deal with the consequences of the force field if it pops up...which it...very well might depending on her reaction.]

[ This is more about comfort than it is about arousal, it doesn't excite her, it calms her. It makes the ache in her heart settle for a moment. Her arms wrap around him and she kisses him back, softly, gently, knowing full well that in any moment they could maybe get zapped or something by a force field.

Her hand slides up his neck touch his face, thumb brushing along his jaw, wondering briefly if he needs soothing too.]
