Day 228 l Video l Open
[The old man on the screen looks dangerously calm for having just arrived in an undersea prison. Saetan has taken the time to find an elegant, old fashioned looking suit before switching on his communicator. Not only that but he has actually arranged himself in the library, and looks as at home and in control of the situation as if he were in his study. He does not look like a frightened new prisoner, which is entirely the point. He's not someone who is used to being powerless and being held captive is not about to make him change his attitude. When he does speak his voice is like thin ice, dark and cold with something deadly lurking underneath.]

I’d like to speak to someone in authority, immediately. I heard your clever little announcement, and you obviously know who I am. Prisoner or not you should respect me enough to speak to me face to face. I’m going to find where you’ve taken my Jewels eventually, and it would be in your best interest to resolve all of this before I do.

Closest you can get to face to face would be going to the Kiosk. Our Wardens are programs.

[Don't mind the coughing he's feeling under the weather.]

And Jewels? Really?

I believe I spotted this kiosk on the way here. I dislike the idea of being imprisoned by machines.

[Why does everyone think this is so funny? He doesn't get it, but he's being very patient about it.] Jewels allow members of the Blood to channel our power. The darker a person's Jewels, the stronger they are. I wear the Black which is the darkest, and believe me if the had not taken them from me we would be having this conversation on the surface of this world rather than here.

I'm sure there's some flesh and blood beings behind this somewhere, but not like they'll ever give two shits enough to hear us out.

[Shrug.] It's smart on their part, cause if any of us knew where they were or how to get to them they'd be dead, or worse.

[Right, back to the topic of jewels. Also he is successfully restraining his immaturity over the 'dark jewels' comments here.] It just sounds like an oddly prissy thing to be concerned about, not to mention strange that the Wardens would take them. But I guess if they hold some sort of power it makes sense.

[His voice gets a little raspy there at the end and he ends up coughing once more to clear his throat.]

Patience can be a virtue sometime. The people behind all this will do eventually and I'll deal with them then.

[Prissy? He cannot believe this is a conversation he has to have.] Imagine loosing your senses and a few limbs all at once and you might begin to understand how this feels.

Are you quite alright, puppy?

I want a front row seat for that.

[Magic doesn't really exist where he's from, so don't mind him Saetan. All he can think of is the overly expensive and gaudy things women always want.] Yeesh. That does sound like it sucks.

[Trying not to snarl and get defensive at being called 'puppy' this guy can't possibly know it's an old jab at him from back home. Being a pit fighter, his title was 'hellhound']

I've been better. [A small laugh.] Shit I haven't been called Puppy in a long time.

Thanks, phone, for autocorrecting that first sentence into crazy talk. "Die", not "do" haha!

No, believe me, you really don't.

[To be fair one is set in a pendant and the other in a ring so he's not far off. Not gaudy, per say, but still quite decorative.] They've been a part of me for a very, very long time and I have no intention of loosing them for long.

[If he'd known he would have felt terrible, but even still he's perceptive enough to see something about the comment upset him, and offers up a gentle, slightly apologetic smile.] Boyo, when you get to be my age you can call people whatever you want and they just have to accept it and humor you. One of the few perks.

[Seeming a little confused by that statement until he runs what the guy said back through his mind. Huh.]

You'll deal with them after they're dead? [Maybe it's the lack of magic or anything really supernatural that made his mortal mind switch the wording on that one to the point he didn't catch the real meaning. Course thanks to Marina he's met enough vampires and what not that it's not breaking his brain. He is fairly curious though.]

Tch, the ones that called me that were guys who thought they were bigger and better than me, that's all. [He can tell this guy isn't actually looking for a fight though.]

Yes. I'm the High Lord of Hell, young man, and while I rarely enjoy some of the duties that come with the job I might make an exception this time. I think I'd rather enjoy having a conversation with our hosts. [His tone is utterly cold and calm and makes it quite clear that this conversation is going to involve a lot of screaming.]

I'm very sorry, young man. If I'd known I would not have used it; I wouldn't want to be lumped in with people like that. Do you have a name I can use instead?

[Hell. He's heard stories about this Hell. Some weird religions or legends and comics speak of it a lot.]

You're the Lord of Hell?? [Well that's a new one.] That place doesn't exist where I'm from. I mean, some people believe it does.

[He does approve of Saetan's choice of conversation with their wardens though.]

It's fine, I know you weren't using it the same way. My Name's Helix.

See, "puppy" comes from my ring name. "Hellhound." Seein' as I was one of the youngest fighters and the morons underestimated me.

Where do your dead go then, I wonder?

Very nice to meet you, Helix. My name is Saetan SaDiablo. [A polite nod to accompany the introduction.]

They should not have looked down on you for such a name. Hellhounds are very wonderful creatures, you know. There are women in Hell who call themselves harpies. They were all abused and murdered by men and even in death they have a hard time trusting anyone, especially me. I gave them the hellhounds to help them feel safe and now they patrol Hell together dealing out justice when I can't and destroying those who hurt them. It's a name to be quite proud of, when you look at it that way.

No clue. We're talking a galaxy of beliefs you'll get a ton of different stories there. [That's all they were to him, stories. Course, he's talking to the freaking Lord of Hell here. Makes him wonder a bit. He figures maybe another reality has all that supernatural stuff, like the vampires and werewolves and all of that is on other worlds.]

Likewise Saetan. [Pause.] Do I gotta tack a Lord on there or something? [He can give some respect where it's due!]

Really? [Okay so that... makes his title a little cooler. It wasn't one he chose himself.] That does kinda make it sound fitting in some ways.

[Maybe the fact he'd been abused near to death on a few occasions, so protecting the spirits of women who died the same way would be a fitting job if he were a creature in hell. And he is a fighter none-the-less.]

All I know is the name was picked cause Hellhounds are a thing to be feared cause of their viciousness. My guardian wanted me to act the same in the ring.

Yes, I'm rapidly discovering that. They all seem to paint me in a rather negative light so far.

[An amused and faintly charmed smile.] Certainly not, it always makes me suspect the person saying it is trying to get out of trouble by being polite.

They are very dangerous creatures. You say you were made to fight in some sort of ring?

You? Shit. If that's the case they should meet the guy who raised me.

[He nods.]

Bare knuckle, no holds barred and free style, pretty much a vicious street fight to the death. I was champion in my weight class and one of the top overall. Been doin' it since I was old enough to defend myself.

[Which might be somewhat obvious considering he's still alive. It's probably important to note he's only 17.]

I'm beginning to suspect I would rather like to do just that. [There are some things he doesn't take kindly to, and child abuse is one of them. One of the great benefits of being the High Lord of Hell is the ability to deal with people like that. He never has to hunt them down, he just has to be patient and wait. Everyone dies eventually, and then they're his.]

It takes a great deal of strength to survive something like that, and not just of the physical kind. Is that where you were before you were brought here? [There's something dangerously cold about him as he discusses all this. It's respect in his voice, never pity, but its clear this is a situation he is offended by on many levels.]

[Oh man if only Saetan knew Helix's full story. This is only a glimpse into the abuse and horrible things he was forced to survive under the hands of That Man. To Jethro, he was only a weapon and a tool, not his son and barely a being at all. Just a pet, a prized possession he'd only protect for selfish means.]

No... I was on my way to prison after killing three men who assaulted me.

[He's been through a lot. Survived so much more. This is only the tip of the iceberg.]

[He's already beginning to take a guess at it. Just the way he speaks and justifies the actions he's been forced to take to survive reminds him of Lucivar. It instantly endears Helix to him, although he keeps that to himself.]

I don't envy you your life, sweetheart, and I wish you could have been spared it. How did you come to be in such a situation, if you don't mind me asking. I realize it's a personal question from a relative stranger.

[It's strange to Helix, being called sweetheart is something he expects from women but... it's not unwanted. He understands what the man is saying. It's... appreciated. Helix wishes he could have been spared some things more than others too. He doesn't regret much of his life or what he's learned to be able to survive. It's part of who he is and likes who he is, for the most part. Some things he could live without, like the nightmares and other things.]

The... assault? They were misguided idiots who found out my reputation. They thought I had hurt and killed the one man's little sister. I was her friend... I mean, I loved her. They didn't believe me...

[The pet names and endearments are such a habit with him he hardly notices he uses them, and there's certainly nothing romantic about it. Its the same thing he would have said to a child with a skinned knee, or afraid of the dark during their first night in Hell.]

I'm sorry for your loss. I meant more how you came to be a fighter, how all this happened to you. I apologize for inadvertently bringing up something so painful. I'm afraid my curiosity can get me into trouble sometimes.

It's fine.

[He shrugs, he's getting sort of used to telling people his story. He doesn't talk a whole lot unless he likes or trusts someone, and so far Mr. Devil, you are doing well.]

It's... kind of a long story but the short of it is my Guardian trained me and molded me into this for his own gain. It's also what kept me alive all this time.

There were other children but... I was the only one to survive.
