Helen would have responded about the idea of learning together, but the fact of Rebekah's true age caught her off-guard completely. It wasn't that she was judging Rebekah for her age; it was simply that Helen had only met one other person who could even come close to that age and trying to determine Afina's age was an effort in futility. That vampire queen had been in stasis for a very, very long time.
Helen's expression turned more curious still. "Rare it is that I find someone who can claim a higher age than my own." And she meant that with both of her ages. For a moment, she paused, debating whether or not to ask. Perhaps it was time for another of her leaps of faith. "I can't claim to have lived half that long, not even considering my true age."
