Day 226 | Closed to Matt Donovan The holidays weren't something Rebekah had ever been a huge fan of. A thousand years with someone like Niklaus meant not a lot of celebrating. The last Christmas she can remember (thanks to those new memories she woke up with days ago) involved her only Christmas gift being undaggered by April. Which was better than anything anyone could buy, she supposes. Then she had spent most of the rest of the holiday educating the other girl about what was really going on in the town while also plotting her revenge on Stefan for betraying her.
Needless to say, she's not in the Christmas spirit.
But she can think of someone who's probably in even less of one. She remembers hearing what her brother did to Tyler's mother (she remembers rubbing it in Tyler's face when she was holding everyone hostage at the school: not one of her finer moments). Tyler was Matt's best friends -- Matt lived alone in the Lockwood Mansion now. No doubt the wardens suddenly deciding it was the holidays probably was putting Matt in an even worse mood than he had been before.
So she heads out (the cold and snow doesn't really bother her, what with being a vampire and all) deciding to pick up a few things. She gets him a small present (a basketball and some work out clothing -- he had mentioned needing some outlets) along with some food to bring home for him. She also picks up more alcohol in case that's the route he wants to go. She probably goes a little overboard, honestly. She just doesn't want him to feel sad or alone but she isn't very good at this whole cheering people up business.
What she doesn't do is pick up anything too related to the holiday -- no decorations or anything like that. That seems like asking for trouble. But in any case in the early after noon she's making her way back into the apartment, her hands filled with various bags and things.
