day 224 | open action
[ aradia was thrilled to hear about today's museum exhibit. after all, she is the maid of time -- just because she's been plucked out of the practical application of her purpose doesn't mean that connection is gone.

wandering around the exhibit provides her with a sense of familiarity, one she hasn't felt wholly since arriving at marina. and so she can be found here for most of the day, a strange alien girl looking fondly at the same timepieces over and over. she'll happily engage anyone who approaches her.

Agreed. I keep needing to remind myself to be resentful and distrustful of this place, but it's rather hard to maintain.

Understandably. I had a bit of trouble adjusting at first, but...in the end, it's not that bad of a place.

[ she makes a soft noise of thought. ]

That in no way means I consent to what the wardens have done in terms of pulling me away from my timeline, and trust me, my need to know how that was done will never go away, it just means I can accept what I need to, I suppose.

How long have you been here?

Well said. A few people I knew back home are here as well which makes it a bit easier, and I've certainly met interesting people since I arrived about a month ago. [Like girls with gray skin and horns, but he's far too polite to actually say that.]

Mind if I ask why you're so interested in clocks?

I have a few friends from home, too, though it's more like ... hm. They weren't quite "friends" until I got to meet them here, and really, they're not even from the same planet, but ... oh, it's hard to explain -- they're from the future? I've just gotten used to how silly everything I say sounds.

[ it's true. she doesn't bother trying to say "it's complicated" anymore, she just does her best to actually explain. ]

I'm a time-manipulator, to put it most simply.

I deal with aliens and time anomalies on a daily basis back home as part of my job. Don't worry, I'm used to sounding silly, too.

What's a time-manipulator?

Do you really? What's your job?

Well, that's a more standard term for it. The label specific to my world and case would be the Maid of Time. I have the power to travel between timelines and to alter the flow of time itself! Not bad, if I say so myself.

I work for a top secret agency called Torchwood. We defend the earth from alien threats.

Have you ever heard of the Time Lords? From what I know of them, you sound quite similar.

[ ianto's keeping aradia's interest very well. this is definitely an enjoyable conversation for her - coming to this exhibit was a good idea! ]

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with them, but I'd love to hear more.

I'm not an expert by any means, but it sounds like you both do similar things. Theres one here, actually, called the Doctor. You might enjoy speaking to him, if you get a chance. He travels through time and space, having adventures from what I understand.

[ aradia's practically got stars in her eyes, no pun intended. she clasps her hands in front of her chest in sheer excitement. ]

I will definitely seek him out at some point. It's very nice to have others who understand the complexities of these kinds of things!
