Day 223; ☤ Open | Voice/Action
[Calliope clears her throat. The arcade's first-floor cacophony can be heard in the background, though muffled. Even though she sounds like Caliborn, she's so very much kinder and warmer.]

Sooo... This is "Callie"! Thank you to everyone who donated or traded your chocolate to me while we were at the other place, and to those of you who offered me kind words. I hope everyone is alright, and made it back safely! [Though she hasn't heard from Roxy.]

... on that note, has anyone else noticed bruises and the sort being in different places than they were yesterday? It's rather peculiar...

Um, but, anyway. [She sounds a bit more nervous, now, voice a bit shaky and laugh with an edge of giggle on it.] It's not as though there's currency worry about, but if anyone would like to be repaid in kind and company, I'm on the second floor of the Arcade with some snacks. It's the one with the tables and the card and board games.

Maybe we could also play something together? Oh- and we can also go to one of the other floors, if anyone prefers a different game! This just seemed the most fitting place to start at, with the candy and soda...

[Calliope really wants to spend time with everyone and anyone.]

[This is a bigger deal to her than it may be for most; she's so convinced of her own horrific monsterly-ness that she feels like asking people to spend time with her is imposing. Part of her doesn't even expect anyone to respond or show up, beyond maybe her friends from home. Still, after she learned about Caliborn's little frypan rampage and constant attempts at upsetting people, she feels a need to try and cement herself as the green-eyed cherub who just wants to make friends.]

[That is why, true to her word, Calliope is camping out at one of the game tables. She's wearing a hoodie tugged up to somewhat disguise her appearance, but she's on the lookout for people who appear to be looking for her. There are long moments of keeping busy by shuffling skills and snacking on her small assorted collection of candy, too.]

[And, before she tries to put it off any longer...]

Umm. Hello, dear. Would you like to, ah... [She trails off, realizing there are approximately two dozen ways to end that sentence, and she can't pick one.]

It is. I've never fancied myself a criminal, after all.

[And she doesn't want to say it for obvious reasons, but she suspects that she was brought here because of Caliborn's overwhelming awful bleeding over into her somehow.]

Even though I feel sad for not getting to play my session even a little, it's allowed me to meet all my friends and make new ones. Which is something I never imagined I would get to do, frankly.

[An observation that inspires a lot of odd feelings in Calliope—both good and bad. Had she a choice, she never would have shown her face to anyone, but both her brother and the prison itself forced the point over and over.]

[It is suddenly impossible to look at Aradia, so Calliope settles on looking at the table.]

That is true.

Like how your fellows interacted with the heroes of Breath and Light and Time and Space, I was able to cross the universal boundary to speak with my friends. But it did not mean I could reach anyone and everyone.

So... [Lamely.] Yeah.

There was the possibility, yes, but never a guarantee.

[ aradia feels strangely fuzzy. not necessarily "warm and fuzzy", per se, but more like she's overthinking and having a lot of feelings at once. she's glad, so very glad, that she did get the chance to meet calliope. her life here in marina is much different than what she was used to before, but ... she likes it. a lot. just like she likes calliope a lot.

in order to properly express this, she acts on impulse and leans over to place a quick kiss on calliope's cheek while she's still looking at the table. ]

I'm very glad we were given the chance.

[Calliope momentarily tenses, if only out of instinct and a lack of familiarity with anyone being clingy with her. It's one thing to expect it out of Roxy, whose years-long friendship with her must surely overpower any revulsion she must feel. But Aradia...]

[It's something she never even remotely expected, nor dared to possibly consider, and so she doesn't even believe it just happened.]

[Calliope looks up. She can barely say anything, issuing out only a hiss of words.]

Y- ... yeah.

[ aradia leans back, now, hands folded in her lap, and looks down, blushing. now that her thoughts have slowed a bit, there's enough room for worry to kick in, and her stomach does a bit of a flipflop. ] I'm very sorry if that was ... obtrusive or unwanted. [Calliope opts to cover her face.]

[The sheer weight of everything she's feeling makes her start trembling, along with the effort to not bursting into tears. She feels like such an idiot over the fact that such a wonderful thing just happened and she can't rationalize it.]

[It takes a moment, but she summons out words. Very softly, and muffled by her hands.]

It was sweet.

[ feelings are difficult. so very, very difficult. not necessarily in a bad way, mostly in a confusing, whirlwind-y, words-are-difficult-too way. aradia sits there for a moment in silence again, even after calliope's response. ]

I'm glad it didn't bother you.

[ she's looking at the table now, too, but out of the corner of her eye, she can see calliope shaking. she's not quite sure what to do about that, though there's worry brewing again. ]

I don't understand.

[Calliope scoots a little closer to Aradia, but she can't bring herself to reach out and touch her, or do anything of the sort. She is afraid of inflicting her monster-ness on anyone, even now.]

[But she does get close enough to where their shoulders can touch. That seems safe enough.]

I- I know it's a little forward of me to say so, but- I did like it.
