Day 223; ☤ Open | Voice/Action
[Calliope clears her throat. The arcade's first-floor cacophony can be heard in the background, though muffled. Even though she sounds like Caliborn, she's so very much kinder and warmer.]

Sooo... This is "Callie"! Thank you to everyone who donated or traded your chocolate to me while we were at the other place, and to those of you who offered me kind words. I hope everyone is alright, and made it back safely! [Though she hasn't heard from Roxy.]

... on that note, has anyone else noticed bruises and the sort being in different places than they were yesterday? It's rather peculiar...

Um, but, anyway. [She sounds a bit more nervous, now, voice a bit shaky and laugh with an edge of giggle on it.] It's not as though there's currency worry about, but if anyone would like to be repaid in kind and company, I'm on the second floor of the Arcade with some snacks. It's the one with the tables and the card and board games.

Maybe we could also play something together? Oh- and we can also go to one of the other floors, if anyone prefers a different game! This just seemed the most fitting place to start at, with the candy and soda...

[Calliope really wants to spend time with everyone and anyone.]

[This is a bigger deal to her than it may be for most; she's so convinced of her own horrific monsterly-ness that she feels like asking people to spend time with her is imposing. Part of her doesn't even expect anyone to respond or show up, beyond maybe her friends from home. Still, after she learned about Caliborn's little frypan rampage and constant attempts at upsetting people, she feels a need to try and cement herself as the green-eyed cherub who just wants to make friends.]

[That is why, true to her word, Calliope is camping out at one of the game tables. She's wearing a hoodie tugged up to somewhat disguise her appearance, but she's on the lookout for people who appear to be looking for her. There are long moments of keeping busy by shuffling skills and snacking on her small assorted collection of candy, too.]

[And, before she tries to put it off any longer...]

Umm. Hello, dear. Would you like to, ah... [She trails off, realizing there are approximately two dozen ways to end that sentence, and she can't pick one.]

[Calliope looks at him closely, searching his face for some remote hint. She can't not do that; his immediate reply makes her feel much too sad.]

[It's not as though Dirk expressed being unhappy. But he's never expressed being anything, either. And she knows humans are supposed to have feelings, so she assumed maybe, he was just waiting to have them once he could be around other people.]

[So hearing that surprises her, and it upsets her. Although she trusts Dirk with her life, she also doesn't know if she can believe him. Not right away. It's just too sad.]

... but I am.

Not to say he doesn't enjoy the time he's spent with his friends. Especially Jake, considering the way their relationship has progressed. But... that's not his goal. He doesn't think it is, anyway.

He stares down at the table, sliding a piece of candy around idly. ]

[She wishes she knew what was most appropriate, in human or even troll terms, to do right now.]

[Okay, she hadn't honestly expected the question to be turned around on her. The Puppydog Eyes turn into a puzzled look.]

I don't actually know. I want to be, and I can be at moments, certainly. I'm happy being here with you, just as I am with the others. [And a bit overwhelmed, but hey.] And when it's quiet at night, I can ignore my problems and just draw or sit quietly. I feel happy then, too.

But there's a lot that's troubling and upsetting. I've had to push out of my comfort zone so much, so fast.

So... I am, but only half the time? [Feelings, yo.]
