[Birdman just leaves it at that for a while.] [He doesn't look at Cain directly, but out of the corner of his right eye he sees the boy's face betraying the stony, uncaring mask he's trying to hold, revealing far more than he meant to let out. He was waiting for him to bring it up. All-knowing all-seeing big brother couldn't possibly be this nice and understanding for this long without eventually holding him down and cutting into his soft little emotional underbelly, that delicate boneless spot in his gut where all the tears and bad feelings and self loathing lay sleeping, could he?]
[Well?]
I've been pretty harsh these last couple of days.
[He speaks into the space in front of him, looking up almost directly above where he's sitting at the ceiling. In the back of his mind, he wonders if there is insect life here, if anything is hiding in the material making the roof.]
The stress has been getting to me too, I guess. Being away from home like this. It's a lot to handle for anyone. Even me.
[Finally he's looking at him, making eye contact.]
So hey. I'm sorry, Cain. I haven't been a very good big brother to you, huh.
