Oh, he's a famous con-man, check forger, impostor and escape artist. Before the age of 21 he'd assumed no fewer than eight identities, passing himself off as an airline pilot, a doctor, a US Bureau of Prisons agent and a lawyer, as well as escaping police custody twice. Between 16 and 18 he flew over a million miles for free while posing as an airline pilot, on over 250 flights to 26 countries without even knowing how to fly a kite, let alone an airplane.
He was eventually caught in France in 1969, serving 12 months in custody before being sentenced to 12 years in US prison, although he only served four. [ And here's the kicker. ] He's currently working as a consultant for the FBI.
